I personaly would never trust a bumper hitch. You will probably need a 4 prong harness for your trailer. And unless you can do it yourself have a trailer place hook it up for you. It shouldnt be that expensive to have it done.

Bumper hitches can't take much. I'd get a real class III hitch. They aren't expensive. Little over $100. Well worth it. I don't know if you are prewired or not. Mine came with the hitch already. BTW, I'm from West Milford.

If you do use a ball on the bumper, the trailer will be at an angle. With a receiver hitch you need to buy a ball mount with a drop to LEVEL the trailer. All too often you see someone driving with the front of the trailer way up in the front. It affects the setup more than they know. Spend a few dollars today to safe on agravation later...

Ditto.

Also, if you put a ball on your bumper you are just asking for your license plate and bumper to get marred up in no time flat.

Titan has a bumper tow rating of 5000LBS so you can do it with no problems. But for just over $100, I'd go for a class III hitch for all the above reasons given.

A Titan to tow a 12' row boat! What is it, maybe 30-40LBS tongue weight. Total weight of 400-500 LBS. Tow it with a Honda or just get rid of the trailer and get a boat rack.

The Honda Belongs To The Wife.and I'm Not Going Down That Road. Anyway I Checked Prices For A Hitch. They Want $300 Installed. I Did Some Research. I Could Buy It Online For $170 With Shipping. Has Anyone Installed One. It Looks Like They Just Bolt On.

I've done it on other trucks and it's simple bolt-on. I bought one with shipping for around $100 for my Frontier on EBAY. Look there!

Avgjoe,

Do not trust the Titan bumper. An escort backed into mine and broke its tail light and bezel while displacing my bumper enough to crumple the truck body/bed.

The bumper of the titan is too delicate for a truck in my humble opinion.

THe titan hitch is extremely easy to install. I did one in less than 10 mins alone.
If I would have had a floor jack handy at the time to help support the hitch while I bolted it up it would have went even quicker.
Do your self a favor and save that money! Reese offers a very nice unit through advance auto for $198.

Re: Rookie Towing Questions

I installed an after market hitch (KURT) it is a lillte less visible that the others I looked at. The Titan frame is predrilled for the bolts. Very easy to do. Make sure that your Titan is prewired with a trailer harness. If so, you can purchase the adapter from www.courtesyparts.com.
