Re: Odd Things you've towed

Strangest thing I've towed - A 1978 F-350 long bed.

Wouldn't the tires insulate the truck and keep you from getting zapped?

Re: Odd Things you've towed

man, you guys have me beat
The best I could come up with is a cement mixer with a hoop hitch sitting on a ball hitch where we had a Scottish plasterer named Hugo standing on the trailer arm to keep it from coming undone when we hit bumps while driving a mile or so to a work site from the rental house. But that was with a turd F-150 back 12-13 yrs ago...

Re: Odd Things you've towed

I tried to yank a 2 foot daimeter oak tree trunk outta my yard with the titan. Broke the tow strap. So I rented and excavator. that thing rocked. If you ever get chance do the same. It will be the most fun you ever have with a 3 cylinder diesel!

Towed a bunch of tree parts form hurricane katrina and rita, still not finished yet. And yes the tires should insulate the truck unless the amps are high enough for the spark to jump from the rim to the ground.

Re: Odd Things you've towed

Helped a buddy move his 14'x70' house trailer with a '79 Chevy 3/4 ton 4x4. Dropped the pindle hitch over his trailer ball and headed down the highway. could only do about 20mph since the front end was barely touching the road

Re: Odd Things you've towed

There's an area on West Tawakoni Lake with a nice, long stretch of beach you can get a vehicle on. I've towed a couple buddies on ski's across there from the beach with my old 87 Nissan 4x4.

Oh, to be in my early 20's again and be stupid enough to get myself or my friends killed or seriously injured... LOL

Re: Odd Things you've towed

Got one from a co-worker. This one is even more obvious than my "high wire act". He had a mailbox mounted on one of those big playground springs cast into a block of concrete. He lives where teenage boys with baseball bats go around and play target practice with mailboxes. He figured the spring would act to keep the mailbox from getting too beat up. So, somebody drove over it in a snowstorm and ripped the mailbox off. His wife told him to get rid of it. So he hooked it up to a chain to the back of his Bronco II and figured he'd just yank it out of the ground. (You can see it coming, can't you). Well, he didn't until the spring broke off just above the concrete and came through the rear window of his Bronco. He said he was sure glad he wasn't stupid enough to hook it up to the towhooks on the front!

Re: Odd Things you've towed

I have had a similiar one to that. After Hurricane Floyd, we had lost 14 trees. Luckily only one was laying on the house. When friends have heavy equipment, stupidity rears its head. We took large backhoe to lift up the tree and then with me in a big ol' dump truck we tried to yank it off the house. The 10 ton tow strap snapped nearly missing the backhoe driver and went right through the siding on the house.

Re: Odd Things you've towed

I rented a 16ft. trailer from nations rent that ended up being a heavy-duty car trailer with ramps and a 2-5/16" hitch.. Guess i should have asked or they should have told me.. Anyway i needed it for a 44 square roof tear-off and had to make it work.. I got some 4x8 sheets of plywood and made side-boards to keep the shingles on the trailer..The boys at nations rent said that my `04 le cc 4x4 was not a 3/4 ton and would never tow it safley and made me sign a waiver in case i damaged my truck HAHAHAHA!! Once i had 44 sq. of shingles and other trash related to a roof tear-off loaded on the mighty titan i just had to go by the rental store to show those jerks a real truck.. The shingles alone weighed 9250lbs so the load was over 12000lbs and the titan never even strained on the 15 mile trip up and down the TN. hills to the dump site. This is one awsome truck!!!

Re: Odd Things you've towed

I pulled this disk for about a mile. Should have used the tractor and lifted it off the ground. The Titan pulled the disk, but wasn't happy about it, especially going up hill.
