Odd Things you've towed

Neighbor calls and asked me to bring my truck over so I did. He had gotten a propane powered Fork Lift stuck in his driveway in 4 to 6 inches of crush and run gravel. His chevy couldn't even touch it. So I put yea old Titan in 4 HI and at 2500 rpm it easily yanked it loose and towed it to the black top. The Fork lift had about 7000lbs of counter balance built into it. So I'm guessing overall weight of 9-10k. I was pretty impressed. The truck didn't even groan!

I towed my 19 yr. old son and one of his friends on their skateboards with a jump-rope up to about 25 mph. My wife and the lady next came running out to scream in my face how incredably immature and unresponsable I was.....I told the boys that next time, the old ladies need to be gone.

We used to do that, but sleds in the snow was more fun/dangerous.

I towed my friends' kids' playhouse, upright, on a trailer, from their old house to their new house. It was about 15' tall and almost got snagged on some overhead wires near his new house. He had to crawl up inside the playhouse and push the wires up with a 2x4 so we could pass under them.

you're braver or dumber(maybe smarter) than I am. I'll mess with house wiring, but not power lines!

Probably dumber..... But really, the only fear to have with power lines is touching two at the same time. That's why birds that land on them don't fry. They only touch one so they don't close the electrical "circuit". Out west, where the Eagles or larger birds get fried trying to land, it's because their wingspan is large enough to touch two lines -

"big birds"

I remember being a little kid and my dad dragging on sleds with the old Pontiac 6000 Sation Wagon....Then I remember mom being really mad and not knowing why she was mad....

The only fear!!!!!! Yup dumber it is!!! Try standing on the ground and lean a ladder up aginst a power line!! That would be fear # 2!!! And even a dumber thing to do. So your the guy that is on the evening news fried like chicken. Well I guess one thing is for sure. If it does fry you, you wont even know it!!!
HI line helecopter repair crews only touch one line at a time. But they can be fried like chicken too. The rotors make static so bad that if the poor guy on the side of the helicopter touches the line to fast he can be Zapped by a major static charge so bad he can die!. Fear # 3. Do us all a favor dont touch the power lines. We need all the Titan drivers we can get. Good luck to ya.

You don't necessarily have to touch 2 wires to get popped. If you touch one wire and a good ground you are through. The 2X was an insulator that is why he didn't get hit. As long as there is no ground you won't get shocked.

That's true, but still scarey. I've seen those guys working on the lines from helicopters, using that stick thing to grab the lines and not fry the Heli. The good news is that if you get fried by the lines a friend can haul your charred remains to the hospital in the back of your Titan. Wouldn't want that smell inside!

Any time you touch a helicopter that has not come in contact with the ground it will shock you. The static from the helicopter can be real strong. The reason they use the stick to grab the lines is not because of the lines, it is because of the static from the helicopter dischaging to the wires.

interesting! I've only seen video of this on Discovery channel. Those guys have a lot more nerve than I do.

Darwin??? I guess we could have evolved, involved, or revolved. But not without GOD! I think you mean Einstien, or Newton Award.
