Wow 7600 lbs empty, that will be pretty heavy loaded. It sure is nice though.

That is too much weight for your truck to be safe on the road. Once loaded up with all the goodies, the trailer is going to be driving the truck.

Re: Toy Hauler Camper Shopping, anyone with experience chime in.

We have a 34' sierra triple axle, i set it on the back of my wifes Titan it just bottomed out the touge weight is really heavy around 900lbs. We have a freind in san diego that pulls a 24' Vortex with the solid fiberglass sides, the ones your looking at are way to heavy for the Titan. I have never seen a Titan pulling over a 26' toy box going out this weekend will keep my eyes open. I pull our toy hauler with my F250 deisel. Look to see the GVW total they are around 12,000# that is fully loaded water, fuel, and toys. Dry weight with nothing in it is around 7,000 to 8,000 lbs.

Re: Toy Hauler Camper Shopping, anyone with experience chime in.

You will be fine as long as you are only hauling a PW50 and you 5 year old kid.
You should be looking for something in the 4500 to 5500 weight class. You have to consider your cleanwater+grey water and then all of your gear and occupants inside the vehicle. Just my two cents.
I was looking at something from here.
http://www.a1warriortrailers.com/fk.htm
They have several styles and lengths at the bottom of the page.
Hope it helps.

Yep. A triple axle = dually. The toy hauler trailer weighing 7,640 lbs. dry is going to exceed the towing capacity of the Titan when it is loaded with the toy, water, sewage, propane, food, and provisions.

Re: Toy Hauler Camper Shopping, anyone with experience chime in.

I pull a 21 foot Ragen toy hauler that weights in at 5600 lbs. Loaded with one atv and canoe plus 36 gallons of fuel and food, clothes, bedding ect comes in around 7500 lbs.
I fill up with water as close to my destination as possible so I dont have to carry that 830 pounds for the whole trip.
My Titan CC,4x4 with big tow handles it well. one other thing to consider is the width of the hauler, I had to put extinsion mirrors to see the end of the trailer, and before you ask, yes they were extended all the way out.
In my opinion the hauler you are looking at is way to big for the Titan...

Re: Toy Hauler Camper Shopping, anyone with experience chime in.

Sounds like you could use a little "new trailer" info...

All of the advertised dry weights are way low! You can expect the true dry weight to be at least 500 lbs more then advertised, and many time it can be 700 lbs depending on the options on the trailer. Remember part of this extra weight will be on the tongue. By the way toy haulers have a LOT of tongue weight!

When matching a trailer to a Tow vehicle(TV) you don't use the empty weight, use the trailers GVW. Most 26' toy hauler have GVW's around 10,000 lbs!

Did you know that the Titans 9500 lb tow rating is for a empty truck except for a 180 lb driver and just 1/2 a tank of gas?....every single pound of passenger, fuel, or misc payload you carry takes that much away from the max rated tow capacity. You have to add the tongue weight(the real weight, not the BS advertised weight) to the truck also in your weight math.

One last thought, so you figure out how much weight your Titan will weigh, and now the max tow rating is say 7800 lbs, do you really want to be towing at 100% of rating? Give your truck a break, when you get to the calculated max tow rating, stay no more the 75% of that to give the truck a margin...

Re: Toy Hauler Camper Shopping, anyone with experience chime in.

Wow.. Beautiful trailer but way to heavy for the titan.

As far as toyhaulers go you will probably need to stay under 23 ft to stay safe.

depending on water, propane, gas and supplies add 1500lbs to the trailer weight which is usually taken before they add all the options like electric bunks and on board gas. and That doesn't even count your toys!

I have an Attitude 23 FSAK very similar to what you are looking at and the tongue weight is very heavy even with a weight distribution hitch. (probably due to the front sleeper and dual propane tanks).

Re: Toy Hauler Camper Shopping, anyone with experience chime in.

I am confortable towing my 8000lbs TT but I have to say that any more and I would be pussing it. The Titan is a under rated as a hauler and for me is one of the best trucks that I have used.

The Toy Hauler that you are lookin at would be much to big for the Titan. The toungue weight is important and a TH is going to be 15%-20% of total weight. Lets say 10,000lbs -- you toungue would be 1,500lbs to 2,000 lbs. You are already overloaded.

Here are some options:

http://www.a1warriortrailers.com/fs.htm

Hope this helps. You will want to look at air ride (I am now)

Re: Toy Hauler Camper Shopping, anyone with experience chime in.

Ditto to what evryone has already said. It is a nice loking rig but WAY to heavy. You will add 1000# not including toys for a 4 person family when you go out. Look for a smaller one. Be sure you also purchase the load equalizing hitch made by "Eqaul-I-Zer" It is that very best at sway control and by far the easiest to hook up with the trailer. Tongue pulled toyhaulers are notorous for being very tongue heavy. This should be a required purchase and not considered an option.

Brand wise they are much the same. Some have better this, and other better that. Just make sure you get a good price, and work only with a dealer that has a reat reputation for customer service. Too many of them just treat you like a number once they get your money.

Re: Toy Hauler Camper Shopping, anyone with experience chime in.

I agree as well! We have been looking at TH as wall, but after alot of research we came to the conclusion that with all 4 toys and 2 kids etc.. we will be at a un safe weight. We are currently looking for a 2500 or 3500 series used beater that runs good to tow the trailer we want. I see theese trucks advertised all the time for $1000.00 to $2000.00. It makes sense to me to spend a few bucks on a beater truck rather than beat the crap out of my Titan. Besides you can use it for hauling stuff you wouldn't want put in your Titan. I'm waitin till 2009 to trade up to the 3/4 Titan. Well my 2 cents as well and good luck with your decision

Re: Toy Hauler Camper Shopping, anyone with experience chime in.

To put everyones mind at ease I will be towing this with a Ram 2500 4x4. I will use a weight distribution hitch for sure as well. Some more specs on these for everyone.

2617TT

Tongue wt. 790
Width, 8'6"
Fresh Water 112gal
Waste 30
Grey 40
GVWR 13000

3018TT

Tongue wt. 840
Width 8'6"
Fresh water 112
waste 30
grey 40
GVWR 13000

Both have 35 gal fuel tanks for the on board generator as well as gas station for toys.

The tongue wt on these actually isn't that bad as long as you didn't load water till close to spot and kept the heavy stuff in the back to help offset tongue wt.
