The hitch RECEIVER is a class IV. The actual hitch/ball portion may be different, if someone did not know what they were doing.
Usually, by the trailer ball, there will be a listing of towing capacity stamped into the metal of the hitch.
Unless the dealer actually gave the customer the trailer ball portion, (mine did not), the customer usually can go to parts store and get size that he needs.

Its a class IV only when used with a load distribution hitch. Otherwise its a class III.
It can only be rated one way, and it's a class IV reciever....regardless of what you use with it. The other parts may NOT be rated to tow the weight of the class IV receiver but it's still a class IV.
