I'm not sure I fully understand what you are asking, but do you also have a wiring harness for you trailer lights? Also, that's a pretty big trailer, I'd assume you'd need an electric brake controller, unless it has a hydraulic ram type setup. Then of course, ensure the weight is acceptable for the Titan.

Re: Need some advice on Towing

yeah i got the wiring harness. I am just making sure I am not missin something. Is 21 feet considered big? its Gross weight is 4200lbs i think.

Do i need a sway bar? Will my oem brakes and shocks be okay ?

I am sure the trailer has brakes. (i didnt buy it yet)

Re: Need some advice on Towing

4200 lb trailer = need for electric/electronic brake controller. I recommend Prodigy.

Assuming you do have the BIG TOW PKG, you'll need the already mentioned brake controller, correct hitch and ball for the weight you're towing. 4200 LBS is nothing. I tow a 32' Jayco weighing almost 7000 LBS dry. Enjoy!!

Oh also, be sure to use the TOW MODE and tow ONLY in 4th gear!!!!

Re: Need some advice on Towing

What about a weight distribution hitch? Even with a 4200 lbs dry trailer seems like it would be a good idea, especially one with a sway bar.

I think some LT tires would be a good idea too. The P tires that come with the truck are pretty soft.

Re: Need some advice on Towing

Depending on TT style he could be anywhere from 290lbs tongue wt to 650lbs. These weights are not enough to make WDH a necessity. If it were closer to 1k I would say yes.

Re: Need some advice on Towing

Yeah, if tongue weight goes much over 500 lbs. weight distributing hitch might be a good thing.

I tow an 8,000 load - 24 ft. equipment trailer with Kubota diesel tractor and any one of several implements attached - the multi-gang disc is heaviest. All tires are full of water for traction.

If I move the tractor too far forward on the trailer and don't have enough weight behind the axles, like when the tractor is loaded and a relatively light implement like a bush-hog is behind it, tongue weight gets pretty high (well over 10% of the load) and the weight distributing hitch is very necessary. With care, I can load with no more than 910 lbs. (10% of my total weight allowance) on the ball, even though total weight is "only" at 8,000. It does tow like a dream, however.
