Finally got around to a real opportunity to tow with my 08 Titan. It was only 150 mi round trip with a 5000 lb TT. It towed very comfortably with the cruise set at 65. Was running into a 10-15 MPH headwind on the outbound leg. Got about 9 MPG. On the return leg I had a 10-20 MPH tail/cross wind. Got about 10 MPG for that leg. I was on fairly flat terrain. The transmission only shifted into 3rd briefly a couple of times. It's nice that the cruise will let the speed drop about 5 MPH before downshifting. However, once in 3rd gear, the transmission seemed reluctant to shift back into 4th after starting back downhill. I usually kicked off the cruise, let it upshift, then put the cruise back on. I don't know if this is typical, or just a side effect with the cruise control.

Knock that speed down to 60 or 55 and you'll see a jump in mileage. You'll also find that it shifts a bit different as well. I got close to 10 MPG this weekend hauling our TT up to Lake George. The difference?.....my TT is over 8000LBS. I find it so much more relaxing cruising in the right lane at 60 MPH (in a 65). Let em' all pass you...who cares. It makes for easier traffic and saves a few $$$s.

That's about normal, When I'm towing with CC on, I manually downshift to 3rd, and also wait awhile before trying to get it to up shift...But I've also had to do the CC on & off trick...Mine doesn't wait to drop 5 mph, it gets impatient and will do a forced downshift a lot sooner, that's why i do my own downshift first...

I towed mine for the first time also, a 205 mile round trip to an area called Westport. I stayed in fourth gear and didn't go over 55 and averaged about 11 miles a gallon. It was smooth towing all the way and a great trip. I plan another next month than again to Yellowstone in August. So far, I love my TT and Titan
