Exclamation Need a little help

I am set to pick up my 06 Kingcab SE 4x4 with the tow Pac on Monday. Right now I have a 05 Dodge 1500 regcab 5.7 Hemi. We are Picking the Nissan because it seams to meet our needs. 1. some place other than in my lap for the kid to set. 2. towing . I have an 18' toy hauler that fits two ATVs plus gear. I put a small atv in the truck bed. The toy hauler weighs 4600lbs empty. Every thing together thats two in the trailer one in the truck puts me at about 7000lbs. I should never go over 7500lbs on the heavyest of days. I use a load leveling hitch. I know the book says 9500lbs, but in real world situtations will this truck handle it? Ive heard a lot of stuff about bad breaks, rear ends, and wireing. If you had it to do over again would you pick a Titan?

Re: Need a little help

The amount of failures to the amount of Titans seem to be minimal, I have towed a Sea Ray 260DA a few times and have not had any problems. I believe your truck has the finned diff cover which will help, I would suggest that you run synthetic diff fluid to the recommend weight and change it regularly if you tow alot. I love my 2004 and I am very happy with my choice.

Re: Need a little help

It will probably handle it. You will probably exceed the payload capacity of the Titan with an ATV in the bed, the tounge weight, your passengers, and your other stuff.

Re: Need a little help

You shouldn't have any problems. Just make sure to follow the break in religiously to avoid rear end problems. That goes for any truck no matter who makes it.

Also use the gears fourth and third.

Here are pics of my 25 ft rig that weighs 5500 lbs empty an 8500 lbs with water, propane, beer and toys.

I tow up and down grades on the interstate 15, 10, and the 5 with no problem. Here are some pics from easter in Ocotillo Wells.

Re: Need a little help

love my truck, just towed my deck boat this weekend for the first time, boat and trailer aprox 6000lbs with gear, towed it with out any problem was very impressed with the power at all speeds. the tow mode does a awsome job of keeping the engine in the proper torque band. the tranny wasn't hunting gears.i would suggest putting the proper brake in on the diff and perform a service on it.

Also that kind of weight, make sure you have trailer brakes.

They come stock with the synthetic diff fluid, us 04's had to "upgrade" to it.

I would buy a Titan if I had to do it again
