Re: Bcm Module Sub-harness Info

i had the same problem after the bcm replacement. i got my truck back this past friday after the dealer having it for 3 days. it appears the one or more of the harnesses were burnt up. well after picking up the truck ,late friday, i had the sevice engine light, low tire press, and brake lights come on not 5miles away from the dealer. have any of you had the same problems?

Re: Bcm Module Sub-harness Info

That's sucks...I feel for you. 3 days? that's crazy...

Did you take the truck in after having the BCM replaced, and having left side trailer light issues?

Did they say something in the trailer toasted your BCM?

Re: Bcm Module Sub-harness Info

I'd like to revive this post...trailer hauling / camping season is just 3-4 short months away here in the north.

Had anyone ever had their trailer wiring fixed and had this issue go away? I've seen posts on other web site indicate where they had the wiring in the trailer replaced and the issue did not go away.

I was getting tired of replacing blown fuses last summer, and I don't want to get the trailer rewired if it doesn't need it.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

What is a BCM? Brake Control Module perhaps?

Talking Re: Bcm Module Sub-harness Info

THANK YOU!!! I have been struggling with this very problem for just over two months!!! After three trips to the local Nissan Dealer's Parts Department and almost $100 in parts...that 10amp Mini Fuse did the trick! I wish I had checked out the Forum first?!? I joined this forum back when I first bought my truck in 2005, and I have been blown away by the great advice more than once. Thank-You again!!!

Re: Bcm Module Sub-harness Info

After readin all of the post related to the left trailer stop lights and left signal light, I found those 2 fuses right where electricjohn said they would be. Since the recall happned in 2004 and mine was a 2005 I would have never thought that they would still have those fuses separeted like that from the main fuse locations. What a pain in the #%$. Now I'll have me a few beers and celebrate.

Re: Bcm Module Sub-harness Info

The main reason for the recall was that the wires going to the trailers left and right brake lights had no fuse protection. Evidently these wires originate at the BCM (body control module), go thru the trailering relays, then back to the 7 way plug where you plug a trailer into. Without these fuses, a wiring fault (ground or short) would toast the BCM. The only way the engineers could remedy this oversight was to add a harness to the BCM with fuses in the two unprotected wires. This harness though had about thirty wires in it and the only way they could fix the problem was to make a short extention cord harness of thirty wires with a fuse in each of the two unprotected wires. The repair person would then unplug the harness from the BCM, plug in the extention, then plug the original harness into the extention harness and ram all the new wireing up under your dash with the fuse holders up there somewhere. When I had the recall done on my truck, the service manager nor the tech had any idea on why they were doing this work till I explained it to them. Evidently the tech sheet they worked off of did not explain the purpose of the harness extention, so therefore they did not know about the fuses to tell customers. I do not know if trucks built after the mistake was discovered have the fuses somewhere else now. If anybody knows this, could they please share where the fuses are located. The recall, I would think, was just a band aid remedy, and the fuses are an intrigal part of the wiring in the truck now.

In 2007 and above they finally added an extra fuse and now have two relays controlled by the BCM.
