Towing Question

This may seem like a silly question. I just got a 2006 Nissan Titan. I pull a bass boat that weighs about 1900 lbs. The manual is somewhat vauge on the towing aspects. When I tow the boat and put it in tow mode, do I need to go to 4th gear or do I leave it in drive and the tow mode makes the necessary adjustments so I don't kick into overdrive? I do not want to cause any transmission trouble. Thanks for any advice.

Re: Towing Question

At that tow weight, you're good to go in 5th...If it's a short hill and the trans unlocks the converter, fine...

I tow a bike trailer at about that weight in 5th and let the trans do it's own thing...AND I'm the guy on this forum alway's "yelling" about towing in 4th or 3rd

Re: Towing Question

1900 LBS is nothing. In fact, you won't even need TOW MODE. Just leave it in 5th, it'll tow like it's not even there.

Re: Towing Question

If your trailer boat don't have a lot of frontage, 5th gear will be fine. Tow mode only really helps on non-interstate towing.
