Towing break in period?

Any way to safe tow before 1200 miles, or do I need to find another truck for my vacation next week?

I've got about 580 now.

Re: Towing break in period?

What are you towing? And, what did you buy the truck for? Go easy the first 500 miles of towing(tow break-in period).

Re: Towing break in period?

Well, I really would follow the advice for towing.

I ignored the engine break in advice but from what I've read there is some merit to hold off on towing. If it's something light say <2000lbs I would probably do it anyway.

Re: Towing break in period?

Towing a Fleetwood 20' travel trailer - max weight about 6500 lbs.

Vehicle has the "Big Tow" package and Trac package.

I bought the vehicle for towing that trailer.

Re: Towing break in period?

You can start towing after 500 miles. The first 500 miles of towing donot go over 50 miles per hour. I also would recommend changing my rearend fluid after my first good trip of towing. I have used Royal Purple, but I just change it to BG 75 /140 synthetic ultra guard. I am a big fan of there products ($15.00 quart).

Re: Towing break in period?

I wouldn't worry too much about towing at your mileage. Maybe take it a litttle easy but since your over 500 milesit should be all good

Re: Towing break in period?

I believe it also says to stop every hour or so to let the tranny and rear end cool the first time or so towing. Do whatever the owners manual tells you. It's for a good reason. You have over 500 miles so....you're good to go but READ THAT MANUAL! Nissan also offers a good towing guide as well.
