Titan Differential Issues

Has anyone come across any seals breaking in their differential. it happened to me at about 34k miles. i towed a buddies car up to portalnd from san diego and when i got back i took it into the shop and had to get the rear end taken apart and new seals at all connections. it was covered under warranty. but i am going to be purchasing a dutchmen 26' travel trailer in a couple of weeks and i am going to be going on a trip from san diego to calgary canada and back throught the rockies and....quite frankly... i am a little nervous. please i would appreciate any input.

Re: Titan Differential Issues

Yes the axle seals. they were both leaking right behind the brake dust cover.

Re: Titan Differential Issues

That's an axel issue...not a differential issue.

Re: Titan Differential Issues

There have been several posts on that problem. Some have speculated that it might be a problem with the diff check valve vent over-pressuring the seals.

Re: Titan Differential Issues

i was just at a dealer and noticed all the 06 models have a aluminmum diff cover on the rear . maybe this is the cure. will we as owners of older models get this cover as a upgrade?

The cover came standard beginning in 2005 models. The answer to your last questions is that some have gotten an upgrade at Nissan's expense and some would not do it. Depends on the dealer.
