I built a tread on this some time ago. Put in my name in the search engine and you should be able to find it.
What model truck do you have?

Yes, you should upgrade your differential fluid to full synthetic if you don't have it already. What year truck do you have?

Nissan put thier own brand of fluid in that is called J-matic. DO NOt replace this with any other fluid while you are under warranty. There is a lot of fluid in the sytem because you have a tranny cooler. I would wait until about 50,000 miles and then find a dealer that can purge the OEM fluid with J-matic. It is exspensive. But I feel this is the best option.

Re: Trans Temp gauge

OK Thanks. I read in the owners manual that the rear has synthetic
oil in it but not the front????????

Also is it possible to swap gears from a non big tow to a big tow set so I can gain the extra pulling weight?

Re: Trans Temp gauge

I would swap the entire axle. But I have heard the computer is programed for the installed axle. So maybe swapping gears is not a good idea.

I own an XE without big tow. I have not experience anything I could tow yet.

Re: Trans Temp gauge

How many axles does your trailer have?

Do you plan on pulling up steep mountain grades?

Does your trailer have electric brakes?

I would be more concerned with the stopping power. My Titan seems to be able to pull just about anything I throw at it.

Re: Trans Temp gauge

2 axles with brakes I thin it will be around the 5000 lb dry weight so I should be ok from what I have been reading.

If you have electric brakes, it looks like you are set.
