What tires are you towing guys using?
This has been a crazy year for me as I have already bought 10 tires for my cars. I have the OEM BFG Rugged Trail A/T 285/70-17 on my Big Tow Titan SE KC 4x4. I'm considering the Kumho Road Venture AT KL78 mostly because of price and because I have had nasty luck with the OEM BFGs and at 18,000 miles it is clear they will never do come the 1st snowfall.
I was looking up the Max. Load Ratings of the OEM BFG and found the Kumho was just 1 pound less, 2,833 versus 2,832 so I figured that would be fine. But then I looked at the holy grail of A/T tires and I see the BFG All-Terrain T/A KO has a Max. Load Rating of 3,195! That's 363 pounds better than the Kumhos which is equal to 726 more load considering both rear tires. Then I looked up the specs on the OEM 265/70-18 Goodyear Wrangler SR-A and found a Max. Load Rating of just 2,601 and for all those Big Tows out there without Off Road this is what Nissan put on the truck with a 9,500 towing capacity.
All this has got my head spinning...
What tires are you towing guys running, and if not on my list can you please tell me what the Max. Load Rating is.
