Ok I have read several of the threads and it is hard to make since of the diff opinions... I have never really towed anything before but the wife and i are considering buying a 5th wheel. i only say 5th wheel over a pull behind because I have heard a 5th wheel is easier and more stable to tow. we looked at some today and most of them had what the sales guy was calling wet weight or fully loaded weight of 10,000 lbs. Is it possible to tow this or do I need to look at trading for a HD truck....

I was also looking at new trailers and was told that the CC can not tow a 5wheel because the beds to small. Look up the post "pictures of what you tow" theres a member towing a 5 wheel. Look at this pic.
I comes from this Post: What do you tow????? Lets see some pics
^^^That's an amazing rig to tow. I'm still blown away every time I see it. Here's another link with some good info. I think the general concensus is that the CC isn't the truck to try a 5th wheel with.

The salesman told me I really didnt have a problem with the bed because of a "sliding" hitch the way he described it u only used it for tight cornering like when parking. It was the actual weight unloaded weight is 7880 axle weight is 5200 hitch weight is 1730 and total "loaded" weight is 10,100....

I have been looking into this as well. Here is what I have found so far. You have to use the Pull Rite 12K Slider. You will also have to be very careful on which 5th you choose. Pull Rite suggests a 7.5 wide 5th but I have found 8' wides that might work. You also have to consider the angles on the nose of the fifth. The 5th that I have found that seems to work would be the Rockwood 26 foot which has a dry weight around 6000#. The dealer says that I can pull the 30' as well but I think that the hitch weight of 1050 is a bit much. I am not even sure if the 950 hitch weight on the 26 will work with out air bags. Just keep in mind that it is not just weight that you have to watch it is the clearance as well.
we have a rv show coming up in a couple of weeks that we r gonna do some more looking at.. There are so many manufactures out there .. this is harder than buying a vehicle... we were looking at the Holiday Ramblers but they seem to be alot heavier than some of the others...

www.pullrite.com make a 5th wheel for short bed truck. I'm not sure if they have an application for the Titan or not. I recall someone on here or CT posted a picture of a CC pulling a 5er.

A 10,000 lb 5'er is too heavy. I'd try to keep GVWR of the 5'ver in the 7500 lb range. That weight coach will have about a 1200-1500 lb pin weight when loaded. And a Pullrite SuperGlide 5th wheel weighs about 300 lbs. So you can see the load put on the back of the truck will be significant.
I was looking at a 5er but it did not seem like a good idea. I would have had to get a much smaller 5er and so I purchased a 29ft TT that is about 8,000 loaded. The Titan pulls this GREAT!

My wife thinks I spend to much on my truck!! My Train Horn <-- Listen
I think that if you do your homework, you will generally find that most fifth wheel pin weights will be too much for a half ton pickup. I believe that you have to count the pin weight towards the total payload of your truck and this is where the 1/2 tons come up short. I may be wrong.

Keep in mind the 5ers come in all sizes ... and the one shown in the picture above with the boat looks like 25' (or less) 5er ... and it might be a 'light' model, which could weigh as little as 3500-4500 lbs dry (but I doubt it). So a 10k lb 5er is not advised but a smaller one with the right kind of sliding 5 hitch might work.
I pull a 25' Sprinter 5th with my KC - pulls it no problem, and I am not overloaded ~scaled it full of water and all camping gear and both the wife and I in the truck.
A freind just bought a 28.5' JAYFLIGHT ~ he is over on the hitch weight for sure, but the trailer weighs in at 7800 dry.
So if you pick the right trailer - no problem with a fifth wheel, but there are lots of bigger 5th wheels out there that would be scary to tow.
Check the GVW on the trailers you look at, they differ quite a bit, don't take the salesmans word for what your truck will pull, I had a guy this summer try to talk me into a trailer that had a GVW of 11500 pounds. He just wanted to get the trailer off the lot.
A sales guy at the Nissan dealer was saying that if the Titan had heaver tires on it. it could almost be rated at 3/4 Ton ?
I'm pulling a ultra lite TT 30' with 7500 GVW + generator + gear etc, pulls good, small speed wobble @ 85 MPH or faster. LOL

I am purchasing a new 5th-wheel from Keystone. A 35'-2" Outback weighing in at 8,370 pounds w/ a hitch weight at 1,730 pounds. I am having a second pair of leaf springs installed to help with the weight issue in the bed of the truck. The new springs should increase the capacity between 800-1,000 pounds.
I drive a 2004, kingcab and have made no additional modifications, except for slightly wider tires.
