installing hitch?

I have a oem hitch on delivery (bought it off a guy on ebay). Should I install myself or should i take it to get installed? I didnt know it it had to be as tight as you could get it or if the bolt have to be tightened with a special drill.

chris.

oh also its coming with the 05 relays. one blue and one brown. can i just add another relay to make it complete for my 06? another blue one i think. or do i have to buy all new relays for an 06?

Buddy of mine and his son installed his, I was there when he did and it was pretty simple. There is also a thread about the relays. Should have a torque wrench to tighten the bolts.

Qustion about receiver hitch addition

Install it your self real easy only 6 bolts. And add the other blue relay for 06. Plug in the relays and the plug in the back and you off. If you need trailer brakes get the Prodigy with the harness ( no wireing to do). Here is a link to an install page:http://www.courtesyparts.com/instruc...5-A6000_1.html Just click on the pages at the bottom....

Re: installing hitch?

Installed mine myself. Just follow CVTITAN's instructions. I held the hitch (50 pounds) up to the frame rails by placing the hitch on top of my flipped over recycle bin which was placed on top of the cardboard box the hitch came in. Others have used lawn chairs with 2x4s run across. Use your imagination. Very easy install.

Re: installing hitch?

If you need to inch the hitch up into place you could probably use a floor jack.

Re: installing hitch?

I just used my brute strength to hoist that thing up and get a few bolts in and a couple bruises. Very easy install.

Re: installing hitch?

I installed it with my fiance's help and it wasn't a problem. I held it up with one hand and loosely put the bolts in place while she was helping me keep it in place and lift the other side. All I had to do then is tighten down the bolts with a torque wrench and plug in the relays. Very simple. Just make sure that you get a torque wrench with a long enough handle. 101 lbs of torque (or whatever it is) isn't too easy to do while laying on your back.

I wouldn't be surprised if you did it to 75 then went to a pep boys or something and ask if they do the extra or if u could u theres. Most of the time places like that are cool. Also, most people use there own estimate with just a socket or wrench
