Re: Tow mode/overdrive

I'll be towing a pop-up camper in a couple months from Houston, TX to Durango, Colorado...Should I drive in 4th gear with Tow-mode on?

That's what I tow all the time, I own a Jayco Baja P/U trailer, it's one of those off-road lifted tent trailers, has 30" tall Dunlop off-road radial tires, even has gas shocks...

I will tow that trailer in 5th(OD) most of the time on flat ground, but my trailer weighs under 3000 lbs, and will manually downshift to 4th on hills.

I also use cruise control all the time, except in the hills, the trans does too much shifting.

Yes all the time with any trailer, it moves the shift points later. Great idea for around town, but I'm not sure it does anything on the open road. Others have posted that it won't go into 5th with Tow Mode on, but that's not what happens on my truck...
