Reverse Camera License Plate

Is anyone using this and if so, what monitor do you buy for this?

Is it working the way you expected it too? If not, What would you do different for backup camera?

I hookup by myself and use a Hensley hitch, a camera is a must!

This may be little late, but I bought one from Wal-Mart for less than $100 made by Roadmaster called the VR3 backup camera system. It bolts to the tag and it's a little more than 1 inch square and about 3\4 inch deep. You just wire the two wires to the backup lights and it RF transmits to the monitor in the front that plugs into the cig. lighter. The camera comes on when you put it into reverse, but it occasionaly picks up some stray RF like the occasional wireless security camera or some oter radio frequency. All in all it still works pretty good.

Re: Reverse Camera License Plate

How easy would such an item be to steal? Not that I'm interested in unlawfully acquiring one, simply that if I got one, I wouldn't want it to wander off...

As easy as it was to put it on, especially if you use the supplied screws/nuts. You can always use special screws (e.g., torx) that require special tools to get them on/off. Problem with Torx is that it's not as uncommon as you think. Google around for security screws.

Idea: use one-way screws. Only way to get it off would be to cut the screw head off. :-)

Re: Reverse Camera License Plate

It is really easy to make secutity screws. Take an allen head or torx screw, simply find a pop rivet, drill a hole the same size in the socet hole and super glue the rivet stem in. When dry snip off.. You can buy security screw adaptors from harbor freight or the like...
I had a full race bodywork on my road bike (in case I tossed it down the road) and made all the screws secruity...
