It's time to put new tires on the Titan. I am trying to decide between the 265/70/18 Michelin Cross Terrain SUV and the 285/65/18 BFG All Terrain. The Michelins should ride smoother and last longer than the BFG, but I'm concerned that the Michelins won't be as good for towing my new trailer (~8400 lbs). I'm also worried that the E rated BFG tires will ride very harsh. They don't offer the D rated version anymore. Does anybody have any practical knowledge with these tires in towing situations?
right now I am a big fan of the Toyo open country. I have heard that the Nitto terra grapplers are smooth riding and long lasting. I am not a fan of the michelin's for a full size, light duty truck. With the weight of the titan and with a load, you will not have to worry much about the BFG's riding too rough. I must say that I absolutely hated the goodyear SRA's that came on my truck new. I now have toyos and I was very impressed with the ease of balance and the ride.
There are alwasy other things to consider, like brand loyalty and personal pref for the looks. Also depends on where you plan on towing. the average weather and temps. Those play a decent role in the fex that a particular sidewall will give. Just things to think about.
Discount tire updated their price for the BFG's on their web site. They are showing the D and E rated 285/65/18 BFG AT KO tires for the same price of $253. They were $240 for the D and $305 for the E last week. I called and they assured me they can still get the D rated ones from the warehouse in CA. Now it comes down to price. Discount can get me out the door without their roadhazard on the D rated for $1153 (with replacement roadhazard for 1316), while Costco can do the E rated for $1030 (with pro rated roadhazard).
Is anyone on here running E rated tires on the Titan? If so, how do they ride?

i recently put 285/65 bfg all terrain ko's, and they have a softer ride then the stock goodyears, given the same pressure. i actually went up to 50 psi, and have had more favorable results. also, the tires were a mother to balance...

Hey, did your local Costco have the 285/65R18's? My Costco doesn't carry any 18" tires, but they said I could order them from Costco.com...but Costco.com won't allow me to select a tire by size...the only tires coming up are the Michelin Cross-Terrains...
