Question Towing TT with No BT

I am looking at buying a TT with a dry GVW-5874, GVWR-7775, and hitch weight of 775lbs. I have a 2005 KC 2x4 without bt. I added a reciever hitch capable of handling a weight dist. load of 9500lbs., 900lbs tongue weight (wich I know I'm not capable of pulling that heavy of a load without bt). I plan on using the equalizer brand distribution hitch and installing a trans. temp guage. My rear diff. has an AL cover with heat sinks. I will be overweight on the tongue and close to being over the gcwr. Is anyone else towing heavy loads without bt? Should I be concerned? Your ideas and input are appreciated.

Re: Towing TT with No BT

tow mode, 4th gear and you will be fine. IMHO.

Take a look at post by fastalkintn, titled "tt weight". He was asking pretty much the same question.

Re: Towing TT with No BT

Can you? Most likely. Will it perform very well? All depends on how big a difference the BT gearing makes. My TT GVWR is 7500lbs and I have had it loaded to just about that and my truck towed it easily. I have the BT.

Re: Towing TT with No BT

I have an identical equipped vehicle. I noticed slight traction loss, ie; crackly tire sound when I accelerate away from a stop when towing and I think this is why my back tires went bald quickly.

I am adding the tru trac next Monday and more importantly I will be getting the Stillen big brakes in the mail today. My Titan has no issues moving 7000# from sea level to 7300 ft in 200 miles in 4th with tow mode on. There is a 9% grade along the way.
Its coming back down the hill from Tahoe with those marginal front brakes that concerns me more
