Towing a Lexus RX330

So my father in law bought a damaged lexus at an insurance auction down across the border in Seattle... He asked if I can go with him and tow it back home.

I was planning to rent a uhaul car hauler.

Am I going to have any problems towing this? I have an 06 xe non tow.

From crunching all the numbers I think I should be fine.. comes out to just under 6000lbs with the trailer....

Any advice/tips would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Towing a Lexus RX330

thats gonna need A LOT of body work...i always keep my eyes open for insurance auctions...never can find any...one day ill find one...where someone rear ended like a nice hotrod or something, and shoved the exhaust and just ripped up the engine...buy it, repair the back, and put in an even larger engine...damn insurance companies....

ok on with your question...you should be fine...

Check to make sure a Uhaul trailer can fit that thing on there. I tried calling them for one to tow a f150 and they said the truck was too big.

The Uhaul auto transports weigh 2200 pounds. Add the weight of the 330, do a little math. You should be okay.

Re: Towing a Lexus RX330

Have a little extra care when slowing if your truck is not equipped with a trailer brake controller. However I would recommend having one installed first.......if you don't have one already.

Re: Towing a Lexus RX330

Thanks for all the tips... I think the uhaul trailers have surge brakes built in? ie. no brake controller needs, however I did pick up a prodigy unit just in case.

Re: Towing a Lexus RX330

The last thing I towed was a 1977 Jeep wagoneer on one of those uhaul auto transports. The Jeep weighed around 6000 lbs though. It was kinda freaky, especially seeing as I didn't have the tow package on my last titan. The thing was pushing me down hills on the freeway. But all in all, the truck pulled it just fine.

Re: Towing a Lexus RX330

Well finally went down to pick it up.

Towed it back up to Vancouver from Seattle and I was very happy with how the titan handled it.
