For about 1 1/2 miles and went very slow!! Redoing my lawn I put 3 pallets of sod (around 2300 lbs each depending on water content) and the trailer 2800 lbs. I will be the first to say "That was a very stupid thing to do!" Truck still pulled it fine and stopped fine because of the trailer brakes. I dont know how well it would do on the highway or normal roads and I dont want to find out!!

I have done between 9000 and 10000 to the dump about 8 miles away. Speed limits are about 45 mph average. It wasn't a problem but i don't think i'd do it often.

I did that a few years back with a 1/2 ton pulling a Skid Steer. I had that uneasy feeling and when hitting the brakes it made the hairs on the back of my neck raise up...not a good feeling in traffic.

Back in the early spring i towed 44 squares of shingles-(210lbs per square)on a heavy-duty trailer that weighed 3300lbs about 12 miles at 45-50 miles an hour up some hills and down some hills-(thank god for trailer brakes)...The Beast handled it great.....Don`t think i would want to try that at 70-75mph but these trucks will do more than you think if you use common sense and drive like you have a load behind you.....
There's something about having TWICE the weight of the vehicle behind me that would scare the bejezus out of me. I think you guys are nuts. I wouldn't doubt the truck would get it done, but wow. Let me guess. Truck still pulled like it had a monster engine though, right? I think there's lots, lots more in this engine.

Oh my gosh!! How'd you get such great mileage?!?! 70 mpg, wow!! Did you try the Cruise control button trick?!?!
LMBO!!!! I don't see how anyone pulls that much, that fast, and gets 11mpg. I pulled about 6k lbs at 55 and got almost 9. ALMOST 9. I'd have been tickled pink to get 11 though. My tow was pretty hilly though.

twice the weight of the truck isn't un-common, nor is it unsafe by definition. For example, take a 1-ton diesel truck and they are rated to tow close to 20Klbs and they weigh about 7K or less. That is more than double. Chevy HD2500 with the diesel is rated to tow 16Klbs, and those only weigh in at 6000. Again more than double.
Towing 10K with a Titan that is rated to tow 9400 isn't that far a stretch. I Would not hesitate to do it for short stints around town, but I would not recommend doing a 300 mile road trip towing that weight!!

I know it's not, but it's one of those mental hurdles I can't jump over easily. Kinda like knowing my truck can pull seven second (+/-) 0 - 60 times. I know it'll do it, but it just doesn't want to register on some other level. If only my right foot would quit trying to prove it to me every time I drive.

The trick to towing is getting the load correct. the new 08 F450 fords can tow 24K lbs and 3 ton in the bed. regular hitch weight is 12K pounds.
im still working on how to load the car trailer, but everyone has told me when you get it right you cant really tell the load is behind you becuse of the way the weight is distributed threw the trailer and frame of the tow vehicle.
My biggest concern when towing is loosing those trailer brakes. its one thing to stop a armada or titan.. its another to stop it and a car, and trailer thats as heavy as some small cars...
I was more worried about the hitch coming undone or pealing off the frame! Then it would be a uncontrolled trailer. That is when the Titan acceleration would come in handy!! BTW my truck is rated for 7400 not 9400!!

When I had my 2003 F-150 I pulled a 2000lb trailer with a 3700lb car on it from houston to arlington and got 13.9mpg. I keep it at 65 most of the way. It had the 4.6L v8 in it. I haven't towed anything with the Titan yet to see what kind of milege it gets.
