Trailer rental issues

Anyone have problems with equipment rental places not renting you a trailer? They seem to have vehicle recommendations that don't have anything to due with a vehicle's towing capacity. Today my brother tried to rent a u-haul car transport trailer. He needed to tow an '89 Chevy 1500, around 6000lbs. total with the trailer. It shouldn't have been any problem, but they said his
'03 Dodge Ram QC Hemi wasn't heavy enough? But my Titan was fine according to their computer, so we used that. Funny, I though the Titan was a bit lighter? Either way, both trucks wouldn't have had a problem with 6000lbs. Another place, United Rentals, said they wouldn't rent a trailer for anything under a 3/4 ton truck. So you're okay with an '81 Ford F250, but not with a Titan.

U-haul told me I couldn't tow a 94 Isuzu Trooper on their flatbed car trailer because it was too heavy, so I told them it was a rodeo and they said it was fine. They haven't made any comments about the Titan not being capable, just about their own equipment.
