This is after I raised the bars one hole. The bars a really tight now. I figured the total trailer weight is 5660 and 700 of that is tongue weight (max is 940). My truck with me, full water and the trailer weights 6100 lbs (GVWR 6422) Looks like 322 for wife and what ever else ( this is the only number I might be over a couple of hundred pounds on some occasions)
When I raised the bar one notch, It shifted 200 lbs to the front axle and made the front axle very close to the unloaded weight (see numbers above. I can't imagine more on these bars. I have the Equalizer brand with 1000 lb bars.
It drives and handles great, What do you think?

that is the weight after the extra notch. It would be really really tight if I go anymore? I been driving it around a year with it a notch lower and felt ok. I am goind to try this setup this weekend.
I guess what I am asking is... if it handles fine, the weight is bascially unchanged on the front axle from loaded to unloaded then I should be ok?
I think the equalizer brand hitch does a better job at the sway control the weight distributing.

I gotta agree with Carbeaux on this one. The front axle seems a little light. Does it try to wander on the highway, wallow through turns in town, or wander on moderately windy days?

Here are my numbers on my Ttian and Outback 28rsds TT fully loaded down the road. 2 adults and 3 kids 5 bikes and fire wood. The only thing I will not haul is water in the TT.
And I'd say those are good numbers. I'm still thinking that somehow, Learjet needs to transfer a little more weight to his steer wheels. Maybe an angle adjustment of the head?

The classic way to set up is to try to have the weight on the axles within 75# of each other. This is for a half-ton truck with a gas engine. This will "plant" the truck firmly on the pavement both front and back, and make everything much less suseptible to wind and quick maneuvers.
When I set up my truck, I ended up having to take up on the equalizer bars by two links versus that of my diesel truck. Of course the diesel was a one-ton truck. And I also have 1,000# bars.
It doesn't matter too much where the bars are for level, as long as they're not real far up or down. They need the space to flex as you travel over bumps and such. Try for something like straight across when you're hooked up and cinched up.
Hope this helps.

Finally found an appropriate sig pic. It's good at least through August...
Mine came in at 14,900 before my wife got in and the rest of her junk. She is only 113 but her junk is a lot more.
