Question Tailgate weight capacity...

I'm planning on loading and hauling a 650 lb. ATV in my Titan. My ramps spec. out at 1400 lbs. Since the ramps are going to rest on the tailgate, I'm wondering if the gate will handle the weight.

Do a search and take a look at the load some broad has on a titan tailgate... ..I don`t think you will have a problem..

Re: Tailgate weight capacity...

I had a piano that weighed about that, maybe a little bit more and it held up. All of the weight was resting on it loading it and then unloading it.

Re: Tailgate weight capacity...

The tailgate is rated at 200 lbs max. Now don't get mad at me, but that's the Nissan rating on it.

Re: Tailgate weight capacity...

do you mean the ramp is sticking past with the tailgate down? what i do with heavy loads is put a piece of wood or 2x4 or whatever across from side to side of the bed right before the tailgate. that way all the pressure will be off the gate. ive seen tailgates hold the waight untilll you hit a bump and the cargo bounces up them slams down and bends the gate. If ur atvs wheels can sit on the ramps with the ramps sitting on the wood support you will be good to go. hopfully i explained that good enough

Re: Tailgate weight capacity...

I know Im close to 300lbs and have stood on the tailgate for hours unloading dirt into the back yard. Seems to hold up just fine.

AG good find there and just goes to prove the Titan can be tons of fun.

Re: Tailgate weight capacity...

Final answer!!! I just bought a very nice ramp called Black widow. It is 9ft, 40'" wide and has a arch in the middle,it folds in the middle for storage. It weigh 70lbs, + my Harley 600lbs + me 200lbs and I rode it up and down and even stop right at the middle of the ramp to check things out and no problem at all with the Tail gate! And all by myself, no help, on level street. Sweet...
So, The Titan tail gate can support 870lbs !!!! Can you believe??!! Well there is , if you have a 2006 Crewcab...
