Re: dumb newbie question

Yes, 9,500 lbs with the big-tow package and around 7-8,000 without I believe.

Re: dumb newbie question

2wd trucks can actually tow more than a 4wd because they weigh less. At least they are rated a tad higher.

Re: dumb newbie question

Yes a 2wd can tow a large boat. However, it is a different ball game pulling a large boat out of the water with a 2wd. The boat might pull you!

Re: dumb newbie question

I didnt say not to pull the boat out. You can try but if it is a really big boat the concrete will be wet and you will probably just spin trying to pull it out. Just have a friend ready the rope to pull you out.

Re: dumb newbie question

A True Trac might help a little but 4x4 is best.

Re: dumb newbie question

I am sure that is the reason my 2wd came with the Trac package. You would need it on a wet boat ramp.

Re: dumb newbie question

I pull a 21' bowrider out of the water all the time with my Titan. Boat and trailer weigh less than 5,000#. MOST of the time I do it in two wheel drive but we couldn't pull just the trailer out of a Lake Erie boat ramp (really slick) without engaging 4 wheel drive. If I didn't have a 4x4 I would carry bags of sand in my bed for a slick ramp. That should give you enough traction to get out.
