Well my dad will in the market for a new truck in a few months and I think he should get a Titan Crew Cab with the big tow. The thing is the we have a pretty heavy boat. We dont tow it that often but it needs to be able to lug 8,000 pounds up the Cajon pass in southern cal(on the way to the river). Anyone towing loads close to the max rating?
As a test we towed the boat behind Ambiguousanamaly's Titan(King Cab without the big tow) a few months ago. The truck handed the weight beautifully and stopped great. The motor did pretty well but i think 8,000 might be a little much for that burly 5.6L. Do the 4.10 "equivalent" gears in the Big tow help get the load moving?

I have towed 13-14,000 pounds for 15 miles at 50-55 mph. up and down the hills around here in Tn...I don`t think that 8,000 will phase the BT Titans .....

I would NOT attempt this in the mountains without trailer brakes. I don't know enough about boat trailers to know whether they usually have them or not.

There are many who will say that is not safe for the truck or other people on the road....True for some drivers who try to tow with a full load just as if they have no load behind them.....Car makers put a number there to cover their butts just for the idiots who don`t have common sense when it comes to towing...Just my .02....
I regularly tow 30,000 - 70,000 lbs. But that's behind the "work" truck.
As far as the Titan goes, I have towed a 2000 lb car trailer with a 1977 Jeep Wagoneer on it. Pretty heavy, as it "pushed" me down Kellog hill. Scared the crap out of me. But I didn't have the Big Tow on my old 04 Titan.

Yea big loads without trailer brakes are scary! Anyway this trailer definitely has trailer brakes. Our current tow vehicle is a 97 Suburban 2500 with a 454 (7.4L). Engine is a monster but it has the worst brakes ever. We've almost been sandwiched between our boat and other vehicles at least once every trip. Not fun. My dad always told me how tough it was to tow this boat. When I towed it behind my buddy's Titan it was EASY. Stopped like nothing. I really have respect for the braking power of the Titan.

I had an 04 ant it scared the crap out of me when I NEEDED to stop. The pedal would go more than 50% down BEFORE the brakes would actually engage. And this was after the "fix" from Nissan. I figured I needed 4x4 anyway, and thinkin of the safety of the family, I bit the bullet and traded the POS in for an 06 with GOOD brakes.

oh ok. lol Actually I remember my friend taking his in for a brake recall or something. The steering wheel shook when he braked. They fixed itperfect since. I think I drive that thing almost as much as he does.

I think there is one guy on here that was going to try to pull a 16000 lb boat a few miles . But Im not sure if he actually did it.
