I towed my first 5th wheel this week. A 30 foot trailer at about 7700 lbs. The Titan with the Big Tow and a Reese hitch worked great! I know very, very few Titan owners have pulled 5th wheel trailers. I drove about 300 interstate miles in mountainous terrain...there was no hill that I couldn't accelerate up.
Is that 7700 pounds empty weight? How did your tranmission do? I pull an 8200 pound empty Fifth wheel. When I pull over blue ridge mountains the trans tends to heat up a little.I would like to see some pictures of your fifth wheel.
I too am now part of the 5er club. I tow a 2007 cougar 278RKS 7000 lbs dry. I got the 12k pullrite and am absolutley loving the way it tows and handles. I will not go back to a TT.

"I heard that it is a PIA to get the Titan set up for 5th wheel."
It took me 4 hours to install my fifth wheel hitch. If I were to do it again I probably could have it done in less than two hours. I used a rail kit from Valley manufacturing, they are the only company I could find making a kit specifically for the Titan. With this kit you only have to drill one hole in the frame, the other bolts use existing holes.
I'm sure the universal rail kits would work with our trucks but never having installed a fifth wheel before I felt safer going with the Valley kit.
Is this why so few do it?
The majority of 5'ers are in long bed trucks. (8 foot) In a short bed (6.5 foot)you need a slider hitch or be very careful when making extremely sharp turns as the trailer corner can strike the cab of the truck.
Greetings! New to the forum. Just bought a 2006 Titan yesterday. We plan to tow a 24 foot 5th wheel that grosses 6000 pds. We got the hitch in the trade, but need to find the rail mounting kit. Will these kits fit all the hitches, or are they proprietary?
We have the King Cab with 6 1/2 foot bed. Any input appreciated. I've towed a popup camper with a minivan, but this is new to me. Studying... Thanks!
You should be able to hava the Valley brand fifth wheel frame kit installed on your '06. I have that and the 15K Reese hitch. Firestone air bags are a nice mod. You will have no trouble with your 5'er.
Digital - While there may be some different hitches that use the same rails, they are definitely not universal. Some have rails that run front to back, others side to side. This is definitely one of those "measure three times, drill once" situations. There are one or two manufacturers with specific mounting brackets for the Nissan frame (makes for less drilling). If the hitch you got in trade was an older, less common brand, it would be easier to just bite the bullet and buy a new one; I think Valley, Pullrite, and Hijacker all have Titan mount kits.
I have purchased a WildCat 5th 27RLWB Dry weight 6950 Hitch Weight 950. Their motto is I Quote ( Aerodynamically designed to be pulled by today's half ton vehicles) My friend just got back from a trip to the Blue Ridge Mountains He had a WildCat 29 RLBS Dry Wt 7760 Hitch Wt 1330 and he swear by the performance of his 2006 Titan Crew cab. Camp World will install my hitch. The installer said that he had install hundreds. I pick mine up on the Fri 13. I have a 2006 King Cab Comments?
