Re: Roadmaster Active Suspension = AWESOME!

Anybody using just the XF kit, or is the XXF the one to go for? I tow a travel trailer and all the camping stuff that goes with it, and need the kit that'll do the job. The truck's rake, unloaded, is another concern of mine. From what I've read, it sounds like the XXF kit is prone to raise the rear end more than the XF when there's no load on the truck. I'd like to keep the unloaded truck's rake as close to stock as I can, or could maybe install PRG levelers on the front end to compensate for the XXF kit, if necessary. Any thoughts?

Re: Roadmaster Active Suspension = AWESOME!

I just got one off of ebay and got the xxf. I figure the heavier should be better for me, my trailer is not real lite.

Ditto - except it's not in cneary812's living room but in my garage.

Re: Roadmaster Active Suspension = AWESOME!

Just got my installed today, the ride is awesome. I am having a little bit of height difference, left side is higher than the right side. How do I adjusted them?

Re: Roadmaster Active Suspension = AWESOME!

Finally got the height adjusted. Is it okay if two side spring tension is different? One side spring tension is about 1mm(dime size) and the other side spring tension is 2.5mm. I don't know if this is okay? Are the the spring tension suppose to be the same on both side?

Re: Roadmaster Active Suspension = AWESOME!

Did you do your own install? I can't believe I can't find anyone with a jack that will lift the entire rear at the same time so I can use the jack stands.

I don't want to use my bottle jack but will if I have too.

Re: Roadmaster Active Suspension = AWESOME!

there is no real way to get the exact same tension. On older trucks, the torsions used to vary from left to right all the time.

I finally got a chance to do my install Saturday Night. It seemed to raise the back an inch or so but the ride is great.

After doing the install I can say that yes your 8" lift should still work with this kit. There is no reason that is shouldn't work. It bolts under the U bolts and over the leaf so height should be no factor.

it is an easy job. Make sure you have a good floor jack. level surface and a good set of jack stands. You will need to jack up the center pumpkin and put the jack stands under the axle first to get everything on, then drop the axle and have the stands under the frame to adjust the spring tension. Also in the directions it says to put the threaded rod in about an inch into the spring... I did that on the one side and realized that the thread has to go almost all the way through the spring so on the other side I ran the spring almost all the way in just enough for me to still get the hook over the leaf. It will make your life a little easier. You will have to take off the plastic wheel well covers to get to the leafs. Also if you have utilitrack you will have trouble getting to the drivers side nuts due to the lock box. I ended up using a open end ratchet to hold the top of the nut. Also you need to take off the rubber bump stop that is on top of the leaf. It is a small allen (don't remember the size off hand). use lots of wd40 on those parts the day before you do this job.

thats about it...
good luck

Re: Roadmaster Active Suspension = AWESOME!

So let me see if I get this right. If I install this it will help with axle wrap. It will raise the back end of my truck about and inch but it will help keep it from squatting when I put a load in the back. It makes the truck ride better. I can adjust the ride stiffness. Is this all true?

What is the downside? It is difficult to adjust the ride stiffness? Is it something that you can easily adjust when you fill the truck with a load of stuff on the weekend and back to normal when the weekend is over?
