Question Trailer lights?

I have a 04 titan with the tow and off road package. I have been reading every thread that I could find on the problem with no luck finding the correct answer. I have no power to my parking lights, i have checked all the fusses even the two under the dash, switched around the 2 brown and three blue breakers/relays under the hood and still no lights. The break light and blinkers work fine. All recalls have been done, the trailer store spent an hour and couldnt locate the problem. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Re: Trailer lights?

Have you tested it with a 12V test light to rule out the trailer lights/wiring?

Re: Trailer lights?

I use my connection to connect to my RV trailer all the time ... and I'll say it's a cranky connecter on the Truck Side ... I have to wiggle the connector back and forth till its on far enough, or it won't work. Make sure its on far enough -- it took a lot more effort than I thought the first few times I tried it. Once the cap was able to go over the connector plug far enough to lock it in, then it usually works. Another possibility is that the gunk they put into the traile hitch assembly can sometimes be so think that it doesn't allow a connection. You might look at that if nothing else works. Also, try a voltage meter on it.

Re: Trailer lights?

You say all "recall" done. That include the TSB for the towing harness? maybe the BCM has gone bad.

Re: Trailer lights?

Hey Guys My 06 Titan has the same problem. I put a hitch and electric brake controller on it. Every thing went fine. (once i bought the damn relays Nissan was to cheap to include.) But i have no running lights. the trailer is Fine and if i jumper the black constant 12 volts to the Brown running light wire i have running lights? I pulled the Connector our of the Raer 7 pin plag and it is clean as hell. With a meter i have everything as per the Book except no 12 volts out the Brown running light wire?

Re: Trailer lights?

After the same thing happened to me last week, I *did* have a blown fuse under the hood. (10A - Towing (bottom row of fuses all the way to the left). Brakes and turn signals still worked... must be on a different fuse.

Replaced it... they work fine now!

However, what a pain in the butt to get to them. Pull the cover, pull the board up, try to fit my hand behind there and use the fuse puller guessing if it's on the fuse or not. Replacing the new fuse... "I hope I don't drop it".

Even if it doesn't 'look' blown... replace it anyways and see if it works.

Re: Trailer lights?

It's with all the other fuses under the hood....

Pull the cover, and it's listed under the cover which one it is.

I have the same problem on my 05 SE turn and brake lights work fine.
NO head lights to trailer.
Where is that fuse box under the hood located?
I have a fuse box in the cab on the passenger side. That is not the one you are talking about is it.
What do I have to do to find this fuse?

Thanks for any help you can give.

It is on the passenger side. Open the box and you will see a 10 amp fuse. Check and see if blown. The big black plastic box is close to the firewall and has some larger fuses and relays in it. I think it was the only 10 amp there. I found it by accident in the dark one night trying to fix my lights in a Walmart parking lot. Yes, under the hood.

Thanks Tall Texan found a blown fuse in the big box next to the fire wall like you said.
I will get a fuse today and I think that will do it. Thanks again

Re: Trailer lights?

Hi Guys,

Its fuse #37 under the hood on a big tow package Titan.

One of the guys from CT pointed it out to me.

I still have issues with my LED tail lights drawing too much current and if I connect my trailer, It blows and I loose the running lights.

Re: Trailer lights?

Wow... that's quite a few people all having the same issue. (There's a spare 10A in the passenger compartment fuse box next to the glove box BTW).

Hmmm....
