I have the tool box as well as the over head racks. There's a huge clearence issue with the tool box and the forward rack. I don't think it's something you could get around with out a huge mod to the tool box or rack. When I do need both on the truck, i can get the tool box as far back as 6 inches or so to the end. I crank down on the knobs and put a stop just in front of the tool box for insurance. Rattles like hell but it stays in place and I can carry all my tools and ladders etc at the same time. Needless to say that this kills a good portion of the cargo space in the bed but, I can still fit a table saw , saw horse etc...
AMP will sell the non-sliding brackets, I bought a set.
$25 plus shipping.

Tim cool post, and nice engineering. One question, could you just simply use the non-sliding brackets for the extender and will AMP sell them directly?
yeah, I had thought about doing that but since I have what I do I just thought it would work much easier then 2 different brackets at different widths. As is when I take the extender and use it with the overhead racks it has to be slightly narrower then without the overhead racks. I don't believe I've ever examined the non-sliding brackets though.
Give Eva a call, they should have the part #'s on hand, if not Bruce has been quite helpful!

Yeah.. that was my thought exactly. I think you'd have to bolt the box to the overhead rack, but i'm not sure exactly how that can be done, I'd need a box to play with , don't we all I saw a thread on here where a guy modded it to work but I never saw pics of what he did. If I need to I might get a small delta box (listed on the first page i think) and go with that. I carry my quad in the back so i need all the bed I can get....... Plus, I only use the racks ad needed... I found a cool way to carry my surfboards:
this method works very well and I can carry an ton of boards back there! i'll have to get some foam padding for the bed divider, but that's about it.

Thanks bbomar,I already have a set. With my Tonneau, the strut mounts bolt into the utili-track rendering the sliders semi-useless similar to Dead Rivers original problem.I found the fixed brackets worked very well for what I needed.Just have to remember to flip the extender the right way or it can be removed with the tailgate locked if it is upside down.
