Parents have an 08 Titan crew cab long bed with the big tow package. The trailer my parents are looking at is 33' 5th wheel. Dry weigth of 9225lbs. Most of the time it will be parked while I use it for school, more practical than an apartment. It will see some recreational use while I'm not in school but not much. I've seen some of the tag alongs some of you have in the 30'+ range but is this one to much?
I don't think I would push it. Something BAD can always happen.

Let's see...
First of all it's too much to tow, you quote empty weight, why? Don't you want to put anything in that trailer?
Second, ALL trailer weights are advertised too low, the trailer you are looking at is a good 500-600 lbs more them the advertised weight. How about the tongue/pin weight?
Fifth wheel trailer have pin weights in the 15-20% range, so a 9700 lb trailer could have a pin weight of 1650 lbs EASY! How much payload will you have left after 1650 lbs?
You keep that trailer, then buy a 3/4 - 1 ton truck...

Thanks for the feedback but it doesn't seem to be needed anymore. They aren't getting it 1)Company appears to be going bankrupt 2)They are looking at trailers in the 8000# range.
I would worry about a 8000# dry weight as well. By the time you factor, water, and all the stuff in one of those a 8000#er will be close to #9000 as well. I love my titan but I don't think I'd push it over 7500..

I have towed this beast a couple of times, so don't do it !!!!!
36 footer with dry weight of 9000 lbs..
As it sits, it is probably 10,500+ lbs...
The truck pulled it fine, but passing big rigs and stopping were another story..
As mentioned above, get a 3/4 or 1-ton truck to tow something that big...
my wife and i are also looking at a 33ft 5th wheel. we will be at 11000 pounds. should we do it? is the paload subtracted from what we can tow?
Yeah right

that would be like playing russian roulet with 5 bullets in the chamber. If you put that much weight behind any half ton make sure it is parked in the driveway and the wheels are chalked. DO NOT DO IT!!!

Take his advice. Just looking at the amount of squatting of the rear of that truck makes me cringe. I wouldn't want that big fu¢ke® behind me going downhill on the freeway, trailer brakes or not. Anything over 10000 lbs I would want a long wheelbase 1-ton.

The truck was an easy fix, 1/2 hour on the frame rack & new front bumper, trailer was totaled. I didn't loose any sleep over the trailer, It never did pull very good. My new trailer is heaver but is way more stable. watch out for units with so much surface area and no tongue weight !
