Bed Extender with drop-in liner???

I recently picked up a used fixed bed extender and was going to install it in my 06 CC with a factory drop in liner. My question is, do I have to cut out the bed liner section to expose the mounting location for the bracket. I am pretty sure I do but wanted to see if anyone had done this before.

I am planning on getting the bed Line-x'd, but for now I just want to use my extender.

The mounting brackets loop around the end of the drop-in liner, so there is no need to cut the liner. Looks like you will need to pop off the plastic top rails, so you can pull back the liner and install the screws. Picture below:
