I want to smack you dude. You're complaining because you got 18mpg.....??? and then 11mpg while towing??? This ain't no Nissan Versa. And like the difference between 11mpg and 15mpg is going to make a huge difference anyways. Maybe $60 on a 900 mile. Big whoop. Next time research a purchase before you buy a V8 truck.
And now you're going to sell the truck to buy another Chevy to save money......?? Lmao...The amount you lose on the sale added to the amount the Chevy dealership is going to rip you off could probably buy you 200 tanks of gas in the Titan.
I get dealer pricing on GM's and Dodges through my company. I did my research, that's why I got the BT package. 18 mpg isn't bad on hwy, but a 7mpg drop on 3000lbs is poor.

I just don't see how these numbers are "extremely disappointing". The 18 mpg highway is better than the window sticker!!! And your 11mpg while towing should have been expected. With the increased load on the engine, any weird weather could have made it fluctuate a lot. You probably towed through some elevation changes, had some wind gusts, and other factors that made it drop. But 11mpg is still good for towing. Your next towing could be 15mpg. It just depends on conditions.

I don't mind 18 mpg hwy, i expected that with the lower gears, but I didn't think it would drop that much with that light of a load. I'm not selling it today, I'll keep it for a year or two, get it paid off. Maybe it will be better next time.

4 mpg might not be that big of deal to some, but I drive 25,000-30,000 miles a year which works out to around $1500 extra a year. Is that going to break me, no, but there are other things I'd rather spend money on. Am I so pissed that I'm going to sell it today, no. If I was that freaked out by milage I'd get a honda insight and get 80mpg. I only posted this to say that I was amazed that my milage dropped as much as it did (i honestly expected it to fall to 14 or 15). Am I saying that any other truck is better than another, no. I like my Titan, it's been a good truck so far, but I'll probably try something else next time.

I liked the Pro 4X, but was scared of the rear end, and opted for the SE (3.73 equivalent). I had a 3/4 ton diesel and got 18 always and up to 22 on the highway.
I am excited to see what the Titan will do with a diesel next year! I would like more MPG, but this was not a surprise.

I averaged 22 mpg hwy driving 75mph. My uncle has an Z71 crew cab and still gets over 20 Hwy.
I didn't realize the fuel mileage on the newer Chevy's had
increased so much. I had a 1997 & 1999 with 3.73 gears
& got about 15-16 combination city/highway, but mostly
highway..........with no load.
I've gotten 20 mpg on my 06 titan with BT gears and 5 people in it, but I was driving between 55 to 60 the entire time. Pulling a 3000 lb travel trailer I can get 12 mpg going 60 in 5th gear (I make sure I feel the converter lock). I expect that kind of mileage from a powerful V8 while towing.
By the way, I never let the truck decide which gear I should be in while towing. I always downshift manually when I feel the truck starting to struggle or the converter won't lock up.
I usually get around 14.5 mpg combined and if I keep my foot light. If I had to drive this beast to work everyday I couldn't afford it. The payment+fuel=$$$. I have a company truck and probably put 10-12k a year on my Titan. Money saved for me=I can afford my Titan. I don't tow anything currently with mine, but we will be getting a travel trailer next year. I think then I can afford the 10-12 mpg a few trips a year...You would loose so much $$$ on a trade that you will never see the savings in mpg on another truck. That said, take a deep breath. Merry Christmas.

I'd like you to post this at RV.net, because I don't think I'll be the only one crying foul...
18 mpg is fantastic for a Titan, they are know fuel offenders, but a Chevy truck(BTW I like Chevy trucks) towing 6000 lbs in the hills of Colorado getting 15 mpg isn't going to fly any where! PLEASE.....
I've been in several Chevy trucks pulling thousands less thru the hills of the local 14 Frwy and they are constantly downshifting to 2nd and pulling 3800-4000 rpm to get up those hills at speed(nothing wrong with that, they're designed to do so) but they're NOT getting 15 mpg doing so...
Now, I do tow a small P/U trailer that's just a tic over 3000 lbs loaded, and my own Titan which hasn't NEVER seen milage over 16 mpg (off a cliff maybe... ) will get 13.5 towing that trailer on flat ground at 67 mph...
Towing 6000 lbs AND getting 15 mpg....

I'm sorry bbomar, did I hurt your feelings by not saying that the Titan was the biggest and best at everything. You don't have to respond, hell you don't even have to read this tread if you're so put out by it. I just simply wanted to voice my frustration with the mgp I got while towing a light load.
