Question for those with airbags

Just installed airbags and I am presently on my first trip with them. I have stopped twice alread and let out air. Started at 60lbs and presenly ay 30lbs.

My 5th wheel is 6500 empty so I'm probably at 8k or close. I have no idea of the tonge weight

Does not seem that I even need the 30lbs and will probably go down some when I hook back up. Is this the norm... They state 100 max and 5 low. I have Firestones.

Just seems like any air lifts the rear???

If you're not loaded, you won't want more than about 10 PSI in them.

I run mine about 45 to 50 PSI and this makes the truck stance just like stock. My pin wieght w/ hitch is about 1500-1600 lbs. This is loaded as camping and 5er is 8000#. Check out the suspension connection online and I recommend investing the $180 or so for the on board compressor if you don't already have it. Couldn't live w/o mine. Adjust as you go. And as stated above do not run more than 10psi while unloaded. It will handle funny.

Firestone... was excellent fix and actually installed a lot easier than I had expected. Highly recommended so far.

Sorry for the late reply on this one. If I'm not pulling anything I leave 10psi in mine. When I pull about 7,000# (tractor and equipment trailer) I have found that 25-30psi works well for me.

Yes- I believe one hole on each side ( or maybe it's 3 holes and one bolt uses the stock hole).

And for the original question- when I load up my trailer- I just inflate it till the hitch is back at the height it was before loading the trailer (obviously making sure you don't exceed the 100psi limit)

No drilling for me... there is a "nut on a stick" for attaching one bolt into the frame where the hole is already there. That took some constructive bending to get lined up.

The entire install was done in my garage by myself... took my time and all went well.

This weekend is the leveling kit... wish me luck

Great picture xterraintx. Looks just like my black lab.

I will be moving up to Alaska this summer, running up the Al-Can and across with a cargo trailer. Probably have in the neighborhood of 6K-7K. Would you guys recommend installing these to help with the weight. Also, how much for a kit and is the on board compressor really worth it.

Finally and most important...do you think the Titan is up to such a big job. Not just big weight but very long distance pulling and pretty rough road conditions. Anyone done it with a Titan?

you guys might wanna check out www.slamspecialties.com their airbags IMO are vastly superior.
