Towing with a new Titan

I'm in real danger of not having more than 5K miles before I have to make my first tow. The trailer is 4K or so and while the first tow should only be 5 miles or so, I expect to go a couple of hundred shortly after.

How big of a deal will it be if I don't follow Nissan's recommended procedure of breaking in the truck before I tow? This summer I'll be doing 4K miles with this trailer + gear.

Re: Towing with a new Titan

I thought that the recommendation was no towing the first 500 miles, then not to exceed 50 MPH while towing for the first 500 miles. That second one is a tough one.

It is no towing for the first 500 miles. I made sure I checked and double checked before I hooked the boat up.

Whew - I don't know where I got the 5000 miles from. Still, not going over 50 for the first 500 miles when towing is going to suck. It will add an hour more more to our first trip's travel time.

Drive in circles until you hit 500 miles. That's what I basically did, the Titan is so much fun to drive anyway...I still do it and I'm up over 6k now.

Re: Towing with a new Titan

I towed my bass boat with only 150 miles on my truck and now I'm at 40K without any issues. My boat weighs around that 4K to 5K. It's just recommended that you wait atleast 500 miles.

I have 1100 miles now. I don't expect to have 3K by the time camping season starts.

1100 miles should be enough, seeing as you only need 500 right?

Re: Towing with a new Titan

Yep. I was worried about this mytical 5K miles I somehow thought I needed. Now I just have to drive 500 miles under 500. I guess I could keep the camper hooked up and drive back and forth to work.

Here's a stupid question . When towing a 6000 lb trailer is the tow mode button pushed in or out.
