Awesome project! I'm concerned of the legality of attaching a hitch to it and towing from it, however. I would check with DOT on that. Again, really nice job.

200 lbs.?!? You mean to tell me that each time one of my size 13's touches the tailgate, I've overloaded it by 40 lbs.? I need to check on that as it should be rated for double that I would think. If not, I'll never climb in or out via the tailgate again. If I were to break the cables just jumping in or out and crease the tailgate, my tailgate would be not-so-proudly displayed at my nearest Nissan dealer for all to see. Dammit, I shoulda bought a Chevy.......just kidding.

Re: Question about putting a 1200lb rhino in the bed of my titan

i travel from long island to pennslyvannia on weekends. 505 miles round trip. I have past many DOT people and numerous police cars and no problems. I bolt the basket to the reciver and use a hitch pin. So it is truly connected to the truck. The basket has working lights so no issue there. and i am no where near the towing capacity or GVWR. The receiver on the basket is welded. And the wiring harness connects perfectly to the trailer. The legality should be a non issue.

The tailgate comes off really easy. I'd get the trailer hitch mounted braket if I were in your situation.

"justrich" can you post up some pics of the hitch mount platform? This sounds like a good bed extension and for 250.

Re: Question about putting a 1200lb rhino in the bed of my titan

I wouldn't worry about being over weight...

I can't remember, but are Rhino's rear-engine like the RZR? If so, see if you can just back it into the bed keeping the "lighter" front end on the tailgate. I know the rhino bed sticks out over the rear tires more than the front bumper which may be an issue, but it could be a simple solution... then again, that's only if I'm even close thinking its rear engine!

Re: Question about putting a 1200lb rhino in the bed of my titan

this is a pic of the one he made for his truck. he said it might take a little while because he is working on a universal one that will work with any truck. he also said to feel free to give his info in case anyone else is interested. i contacted him on rhinoforums.net his forum name is 66cummins.

Re: Question about putting a 1200lb rhino in the bed of my titan

I clicked on this thread with the hopes of seeing an actual Rhinoceros being loaded into a Titan. Severely disappointed!
