Big Tow vs Off Road

On an 05 or 06 what's the diff. in the two? What options do each one have? Is 4x4 all that make the Off Road? I'm looking to buy and don't want the dealer to screw up because I don't know what to look for.

Thanks

Re: Big Tow vs Off Road

I have the big tow, and the off road packages. The off road package gives you the diff lock, and different shocks, and I think the skid plates. The tow package gives you the hitch, tow mirrors, trans temp gauge. They both give you the higher rear end gears.

What helo said.

I think the BT offers the best bang for the buck. I'd rather buy my own shocks and a trutrac than pay for the offroad package.

Re: Big Tow vs Off Road

"Big Tow" and "Off-road" are 2 optional upgrade packages. They are not exclusive (the truck can have one or the other or both or niether). On a '06 SE Kingcab 4x4 the Offroad package includes: Locking rear differential, 17 inch wheels, BFG Rugged Trail tires, Rancho shocks, Lower Final gear ratio, Fog Lamps, Skid plates. (Not all 4x4's have the "Off-road" upgrade)

The TOW package includes: Increased towing capacity, Class IV receiver hitch and wiring harness, extendable tow mirrors, Heavy duty battery, lower final gear ratio, Transmission temp gauge.

Re: Big Tow vs Off Road

With the transmission temp gauge, does it also have a cooler, or just the gauge?

They all have the same coolers, the gauge is the difference.

Re: Big Tow vs Off Road

I walked right into that one. Thanks for the info. I hope to be a Titan owner in a few weeks, just want to get the ducks in a row before I buy. I'll be on here all the time for upgrades and new tricks. Looks like a great forum.

Thanks again,

Goose

Four Peaks Brewery on 8th Street if you're ever near Arizona State University.

Oh yeah, I forgot to list the cool sticker that comes stuck to both sides of your bed when the truck has the "Off-road" package.
The stickers alone add 8 to 9 hp.
