How can I tell if my new (used) '06 SE has the towing option?

I bought an '06 SE crew cab (2wd) 5 weeks ago... I LOVE this truck!

It's got the tow button right above the center console, at the centerline of the dashboard, near the bottom?

Does that mean my truck has the optional tow package? I've gotta look at the paperwork again, I reckon...

Thanks,

Gary Collier

Does it have a tranny temp gauge? If no, no Big Tow.

No tranny temp guage, no hitch below the bumper.... thanks, guys.

So what is the standard towing capacity w/out the Big Tow package? I can't find any specs online....

Thanks,

Gary Collier

I believe 5000 - 7500, depending on the hitch you have.

The towing capacities for your truck are 7,400. And 7,300 if you have the utility-bed option. I kept my truck's sales brochure when i bought it.

Hold up here.... I have the tow button and a hitch but no tranny temp guage. Mine is an 07 Crew. What does this mean?

It means that you don't have the BT package and if you don't have the OR package it also means that you have the higher gear ratio which makes towing a little less enjoyable.

Also...Just because you are 4wd, it doesn't mean you have the lower gears...

yes. my 08 has the tow button, but no tow hitch, no tranny temp gauge. i actually like the non-big tow gears, better on highways...rpm is lower than on my 04. my 08 runs at ~1600 at 70mph, but my older 04 was at 2000rpms.
