I don't remember exactly how much. I think about 168 for the front and 200 and somethin for the rear. My airbags were 255 and 180 for the compressor at the suspensionconnection.com. I got my sway bars from stillen. I just called and talked to Kyle. I am getting around 9 to 10 mpg going up and down the Oregon coast. I can say I am very pleased w/ the 5er. We get some pretty good winds (20-30mph w/ 50-60 gusts) quite often and virtually no sway (you get one hand driving confidence w/ the 5er). I just need to save up my pennies for the Trail Air pin box to reduce chucking. It's not bad just anything I can do for a smoother ride.

They are a lot different. The stillens are solid as the stock (front only) is hollow. It almost ( I stress almost) corners as well as my wifes Accord. Very controlled and solid. I was in the same boat as you and you will not be dissapointed w/ the right 5er. I love the cougar since it has their Hitch Vision which is an ingenious mirror on the front cap and is perfect for the Titan. I just look in my rearview mirror and back up. No need to get out and keep checking. Once you get your hieght right it's a one shot deal always. Unhooking is even easier. Pretty much all 5ers now have electric front jacks and you release the lock on the hitch, drop the front jack pins ( quick release pins) on the stabalizers and drive off. Thats it. Also w/ the 5er it is no problem to put the slide out w/o the rear stabalizer jacks. Wife loves this when it's raining. I could go on and on. I JUST LOVE IT.

Did you install the sway bars yourself? If so how difficult was it?

The front was very easy. I kept the stock bushings so 20 min to do the front. The rear I had a friend of mine who owns a shop do it since I didn't have the right drill to do the driver side. Too close to the gas tank for my taste. The air bags are very easy too. A friend of mine helped me and w/ compressor about 4 hrs. Well worth all of it.

Re: 2008 Titan vs Fifth wheel travel trailer

I just went through a hugh deal with the 5er. I purchased a Chaparral lite 5er from the dealership. They knew what truck I had when I purchased it. When they took it to get the hitch installed, the hitch place would not install it, because it was shorter than 6ft. They went all over town and found a place that would do it, but the auto slider hitch was $3000, which I was no way going to pay. They also said I would need the extender for the king pin, which would void the warranty of the trailer. So in the end they cancelled the deal and I purchased a tow trailer. Any bed in the 6 foot range will need a slider, but a manual silder which is much cheaper than the auto slider.

Once again, I have to bring up payload. The long wheelbase Titan vs. its short wheelbase version has even less of a payload.

A LWB 4x4 Titan has a max payload of 1,650 lbs. A LWB 4x2 has a max payload of 1,725 lbs.

Add 2 people and some gear/tools/fuel.....and it's safe to say at least 300 lbs should be subtracted from that payload rating. And the remainder will be an acceptable pin weight.

So let's go with the 2wd....1,750 - 300 = 1,450 lbs.

That means you have to find a 5th wheel with a dry pin weight of much less than 1,450 lbs. Because dry weights for trailers don't include batteries, water, propane, awning and other options etc. Then you have to add food, cloths, dishes, beer, toiletries etc.

Again , I am not saying "it can't be done"....but I am saying it's not easy.

Yes you won't need a slider and now most modern 5ers are built for tighter corner radius. This is done thru the design of the front cap. I can't stress enough the use of airbags. Not only for saftey but for the preservation of the rest of your suspension. Now your pretty much limited to Tire wieght rating and GCVWR rather than GVWR alone. For my '04 GCVWR is around 14900 lbs. Over the scales I am at 14200 loaded w/ family and all gear.

I got my PullRite 12k for 1900 through my dealer and they charged me about 300 to install. Yes they are more but well worth it to have the Crew Cab IMHO. Check internet prices and see if your dealer will match or come close to price w/ discount in labor. That's what I did.
