I have an 08 XE WITH the Tow Package, but, mine did NOT come with Tow mirrors.... My tow package option was only $250, not the normal $450 or so that it is on SE/LE's. I have the hitch, tranny guage, higher gear ratio, but no mirrors. Dealer told me that was normal because the tow mirrors are all power and the XE does not have the necessary buttons/wiring needed for the mirrors.

The really SERIOUS indicator of towing is the axle ratio number. Check the tag/label behind the driver door and look at the axle indicator. a 29 tells you NO JOY, standard axle, and a 33 tells you you have the towing ratio. All the other things are interesting, maybe important, but your towing performance will be less than it could be if you have the 2.9 axle ratio.

That means more heating in the tranny under tow, whether you have the temp gauge or not, and you can always add that in some way (JC Whitney??).

It is my understanding that XEs with the tow package do not come with the larger mirrors. Only SEs and LEs with the tow package come with the larger mirrors.

ok...here is what I have found out:

I have an 2008.5 SE CC 2x4:

On the sticker....no option packages at all.

The dealer added a reciever hitch and harness.

BUT.....

I have the tranny temp indicator and according to the sticker in the door I have the 33 axle. The battery looks much larger than my dad's 05, so maybe I also have the larger batter. What I don't have (if you look at the pictures above) are the Big tow mirrors.

SO.....

It seems for some reason I have everything for the big tow package, minus the mirrors even though it isn't part of my price.

OK Mine is 08.5 Se. Have the temp gauge for tranny, have tow mode button. Looked at door sticker and got confused but did see a 33 but no 29.

If anyone can help where on the sticker is the number for the ratio?

it's at the bottom of the decal. says "axle" or something...

also, i just purchased an 08.5 SE. it was suppose to have the big tow, arrived w/o it. instead it had the dealer installed hitch(dealer purchased from another dealer)...and i noticed i also have the tranny temp gauge, big battery and 3.33 gears(according to the door decal).

so, same as the others here. no tow mirrors as well.

i'm glad to find this out, as i picked the truck up saturday and was going to return it today because i wanted the tow gears.

OK head is spinning from all this tow and not tow

Called my dealers service department, explained what I was trying to find out after research here is what Isaac told me:

1) All 08.5's have the towing transmission with the tow mode button and cooling fan

2) It appears that the 33 gears are now standard on the 08.5's

3) All 08.5's have the transmission temp gauge on the dash.

I just got new '08 Titan Pro-4X. It has the OR package with the Rancho shocks, etc. It also has the big battery, hitch and 7 pin connector, and the 3.36 gear ratio. However, it doesn't have the tow mirrors (which I don't like anyway) or the transmission temp gauge. So basically, I have the tow package minus the gauge and mirrors. And for the $450 price tag on their tow package, I can get whatever kind of mirrors and temp gauge I want and still have enough $$ left for a tank or two of gas.

I have a BASE 08XE CC not 08.5 and have the 33 axle code? What's up with that?

According to Nissan's web site...2008.5

1) The SE & LE get the trans temp gauge standard, while the XE can't get it at all even if the XE gets the tow package.

2) You still need to go tow package or OR package to get the lower tow gears.

3) As it's been, all Titans get the same cooling package standard.

Still no explanation on why my base model (besides prefered pkg for alloys and 6cd) 2008 *not 08.5* has the 33 coded rear axle??? I'm sure it's not just some GOOD fortune for me because usually things go the other way. Although the day I picked up my Titan the battery was dead and wouldn't jump, and service was out of the reg. battery, so they gave me the tow package battery instead!! Kinda' odd luck I guess?

What does a "33" code axle stand for?...Are you saying that it means 3.357 gears? Are you sure?
My new axle(replaced several months ago) has a code "28" and has the 3.357 gears...

I have 4 friends at work with different models and years and the only codes on any of them is 29 or 33... no 28's so I have no clue whats up with that??
