Tekonsha P3 v. Prodigy

Anyone know the differences between the P3 and Prodigy and which one is a better all-around controller?

Thanks!

Re: Tekonsha P3 v. Prodigy

The P3, can be switch between Electric and Electric Over Hydraulic trailer brakes, were the prodigy can't, it has Highly advanced, easy-to-understand, roadside diagnostics, and the Screen can be changed colors. i believe those are the only differeces. There are both good controlers, i use the prodigy and it work with my needs.

Re: Tekonsha P3 v. Prodigy

The P3 costs more and I believe is a little bit bigger. I got the P3 for my Titan because I liked the LCD display and more diagnostic information. I have a Prodigy in my Honda Pilot and it's worked really well.

If it hadn't been for the rebate on the P3 at the time, I don't know that I would have spent the extra $$$ for the P3.

Yeah, I'm a gadgety kinda guy and the LCD display looks pretty cool. After all, it's all about the "driver experience" right?

Re: Tekonsha P3 v. Prodigy

bumping this thread...

so there's no drawback in choosing the P3 other than cost? I am a complete newbie to trailer brakes and want to set up my titan properly...but on the other hand don't need to overkill it and buy bells and whistles I don't need

The price is not too different between the two, so I'm on the fence

The P3 is just an upgraded version of the Prodigy and the Prodigy is an upgraded version of the voyager. Anyone you get will still be a good controller.
