What is to high?

I ride dirt bikes, I want to lift my truck but what height is to high? Does anyone have any thoughts on this????? I don't want to spend a sh*t load on lifting, wheels and tires only to find out that it is so difficult to load up the bikes. Thanks

Re: What is to high?

I would say about 4"-6" would be the max I would do if you're going to be loading up dirtbikes alot.

Re: What is to high?

No problem! You may want to consider PRGs 4" Performance package. It would greatly improve the ride of your truck, give you enough clearance to fit 35s, and give you awesome offroad capability. Not to mention, it comes with C/Os for the front, which are adjustable so if you decide it's too high you can crank em down for a height that would best suite your needs. And it's way easier to install than the bracket lifts.

Re: What is to high?

I have an 8" lift and have load a dirt bike up in the back. I just parked at the end of the driveway so the incline and the bed are at the lowest point. As for my quad I can drive it up not matter how I park. I should point out that I always use a ramp I have seen people load and unload without the use of ramps I just choose not to kill my back doing so riding does enough.

Re: What is to high?

Most lifts are about 3-4" in the rear, but because they raise the front about 6 inches, the rear wont seem as tall as a 6" lift seems as the bed will pivot off the rear axle and, with the extension of the tailgate, it will feel about 3" taller than stock, even with 35" tires.

Re: What is to high?

Thanks Greg! Also, I hear the Toyo M/T's are very very quiet. Expensive but the quietest in a mud terrain. Can anyone confirm that they are comparable to an all terrain????

Yes, them and the Cooper Discoverer STTs ride just as well as ATs and aren't loud at all. The cooper's are priced a little bit better than the Toyo's though, and they'll both last 40k+ miles.

I can testify to that I have had my current set for about 35k+ and hopefully I will not need another set for 10K+ more and I do 99.999999999% freeway driving.

It has been awhile since I have had A/T's but a friend just changed from A/T's to Toyo M/T's and I will ask him.

They are slightly louder than some ATs ( comparable to upgrading to an AT over the stocker's), but they are just as quiet as some ATs too. It all depends on what tire you are comparing them to. But I can tell you that they are no where near as loud as Mud Grapps, or any of the true, more agressive MTs. And they ride just as well as ATs, they're not rough at all. The Toyo's I've driven on were 40s on 22s, they rode awesome and they were really quiet, regardless of the fact that they were 40s. I couldn't believe it, by far the best big tire I've ever driven on.

Funny stuff...My kid has a set of Toyo's MT tires in a 285 size for a 16" wheel, I got a killer deal on them because they were from a TV commercial shoot...no miles $300 for all 4 brand new!
I could hear him pull up in that alley( I was in the alley waiting for him) after getting them mounted, and could feel them as he took me for a ride with his new tires...There is a lot of difference between those and my Nitto T/G's!I think Toyo makes a great tire, don't get me wrong, but as quiet and smooth riding as a true A/T?...Not even close.

Re: What is to high?

I posted this in another thread as well but pm: Vaughn (VShortt), Mizzark, BillaJ, Yamatitan or Hoyd and ask them. All of the above run the Toyo's or the Cooper's and can vouch for what I have experienced with these tires. Vaughn even said his ride better than his TGs did.
