Class V Hitch

I have the factory class 4 hitch and was wondering if anyone sells a class 5 for the titan and if that would increase my tongue weight max? Any thoughts would be appericated! Thanks

I think the tongue weight is based on what the suspension can safey handle. Others may know better.

^That is correct ^, things can be added to increase the tongue weight, but just swapping out hitches will do nothing. It all depends on what the Tires, brake and suspension can handle. Our axle can’t handle a lot of weight due to the fact that we only have a semi-floating axel, where ¾ ton and ups have a full floating axel.

If i missed anything, or some of my info. isn't correct someone will correct me.

the class 4 hitch is more than enough to handle what a half ton is capable of, class 5 hitches are for BIG trucks ie dump trucks that tow those big flat bed trailers for larger heavy equipment like backhoes.

If you got more than 1000 lbs of tongue weight, you probably need a 3/4 ton or larger truck.
