Does this mean you are using an aftermarket connector at the rear of the truck? Okay the problem is simple. You are getting battery power to your lights. Now how to figure out how and where it's happening..

Re: Brak Controller Woes: Pt2

OK -- back from the game (and completed the post game honey-do list). I can slow down now and try not to make so many spelling errors.

Nothing going on at the rear. Have the tow package factory hitch big mirrors etc. The truck came with a Nissan wiring harness that connects under the left dash (the connection could not have been tucked up any higher nor any harder to find/grab). I needed the harness that snaps into the Prodigy and then connects to the colored wires of the Nissan harness. Went back to my Airstream dealer and they gave me one (free!! -- Colonlal Airstream, NJ).

Connected all the wires -- NOT by twisting them but with those male/female electrical connectors -- had help). Here are the connections I made.

Prodigy = 4 wires (black = +12 volt, red = stoplight, white = ground, blue = trailer brakes, brown = not available).

Nissan harness = 5 wires (red/green = break signal, black = ground, brown/white = break out, r/l = ill ((which by process of elimination must be the red wire with blue stripe)), red = fused B+).

How I connected: Prodigy black to Nissan red AND red/blue
Prodigy red to Nissan red/green
Prodigy blue to Nissan brown'white
Prodigy white to Nissan black

That's it!? And you know what happened. Anything jump out at anyone. Gonna take it to Airstream next. They hook these things up everyday.

Re: Brak Controller Woes: Pt2

This doesn't have anything to do with your Brake Controller or wiring.. Try this.. Hook-up the trailer and then disconnect the brake controller at the factory connector and see if the lights stay on.

As I said before, the lights are getting a battery feed. You need to check the connector at the back of the truck and at the trailer..

Derwood and Walleeme

Forgive me, despite being Piled Higher and Deeper (PhD) I'm a bit dense on this whole subject.

Walleeme -- I searched and am still confused.

Derwood -- is it possible that the illumination wire that i did connect is causing a problem?? Should I disconnect it? What do you mean by disconnecting at the "factory control"? Is that where the male/female connectors between the colored wires?

Re: Brak Controller Woes: Pt2

Red/Grey = Brake Signal
Black = Ground
Brown/White = Brake Out
Red/Blue = Illumanation (Not Needed)
Red = 12 volt fused

DOUBLE CHECK THESE! Carefully. I made a mistake when I did mine.
A wire out of whack will put you where you are.

Ooops a PhD, I'll talk slow for you.. My brother is also one of you, so I have had to do this before...

Wait, what did you connect the illumination wire too? That wire should have just been taped off.. If you look at the threads that Walleeme posted I gave a direct wire to wire conversion in one of them (It's in a word doc, if that helps)...

Re: Brak Controller Woes: Pt2

LOL -- I'll disconnect the illumination wire (I connected it with the Nissan red to the Prodigy black -- so I actually have two Nissan wires connected to the Prodigy black) -- don't ask.

I'll report to the 2 professors tomorrow. Thanks and good-night Doctors of Titanology.
