Should the P3 Screen Always be On?

Should the screen of the Tekonsha P3 always be on? I just installed it and got it all mounted but didn't see any mention of if it should always be on.

Thanks!

Re: Should the P3 Screen Always be On?

Air:

Don't know if I can help (just connected mine this morning with the help of several forum members -- see my post BC Woes Pt2). When truck is off the Prodigy is OFF. However, according to Tekonsha website (and mine does this) you should see two dots at the bottom of the screen (the left dot shows it is connected to a power source and the right dot shows that a boost level is set). AFTER 15 minutes of no movement the unit will go into sleep mode and nothing should be illuminated.

Now -- perhaps you were asking if it stays on all the time while driving BUT not towing/connected to trailer. That I can't answer yet BUT someone will chime in soon.

Re: Should the P3 Screen Always be On?

My P3 eventually goes off. I kept checking it once I installed it to make sure and after 10 or 15 minutes it shut off. I don't think it comes on again until it hit the brake.

Otherwise, mine is on whether I have a trailer attached or not.
