Re: No brake lights or turn signals on trailer

This type of issue comes up ALOT...
If you had lights and now you don't, you need to use a test light to check the pins at the factory 7 pin connector first!
If have the lights at the connector, then it's the trailer...Many times a trailer will have a bad ground and then try to seek ground thru the trailer ball and hitch...so it doesn't work on your truck, but it works fine on your buddys truck...you buddy got a better ground thru his ball then yours...
Other then missing relays, 90% of the time it's the trailer...

BTW...The Titan IS setup to light up American style trailers, so a 7-4 pin adapter should work fine, the truck it's self is different, but the tow circut is all USA style...

Re: No brake lights or turn signals on trailer

Don't spend $600, Nissan is over charging for soemthing that should cost less than $100. I had similar problems when I hooked up a boat, then none pulling a utility trailer. I rewired the boat and trailer but the problem was the trailer recepticle on my truck that Nissan had to replace. Fortunately my truck was still under warranty then.

I have same problem with my boat. 7 pin to 4 pin adapter doesn't solve my problems. need a converter. I haven't installed one on mine to be absolutely sure but it says that's what ya need in the manual under towing.

this is wrong, ended up being a bad ground. I ran my white wire ground on my boat all the way to the light and grounded on the bolt that holds the light in place, everything works.

Re: No brake lights or turn signals on trailer

My 05 titan had the same problem with trailer lighting. Dealer said that I had a recall. They installed a bcm sub harness that has inline fuses to the turn signal wires. Told me everything now works fine. Well plugged into a trailer and the lights still did not work. Got a buddy that works for an infinity dealer to pull a wire diagram for me and we found out that the bcm was not sending a signal out to the turn signal for the trailer. The truck turn signals worked fine, but had no trailer. Took it to the dealer and got the run around about how my trailer is causing my problem and that I should get my trailer rewired to the vehicle. My trailer works on my 07 titan but not my 05. So I pulled my trailer down to the dealer (me knowing that it needs a bcm) and told them to figure it out. Rewire the trailer to the vehicle if it needes it and if it works I will pay whatever. The tech actually rewired the trailer and the lights still did not work (no surprise). I called the service manager and arranged a meeting to discuss my lighting isssue. Met with the manager and explaned to him what was going on and that I had an infinity mechanic inspect my bcm and found out it was bad. He called in the writer and the tech. The writer and the tech sat there and told me to my face that the bcm is functioning normal. That my problem was in the trailer. Had them plug the trailer into another titan in front of me and the manager and it worked fine. Plugged it into my truck and it don't work. Service manager go very upset that it had gotten to this and replaced the bcm for me for free. If you want I can get the wire diagram for your truck and you can test the two wires and see if you have output.

you must be missing a blue relay for the left side because if the right side works but the left doesn't, you are miss some power. look at your fuse box again under the hood behind the battery and make sure you have two blue relays. look at the diagram to make sure you are lookin at it correctly. there should be a relay on all those connections. and the fuses beside them should be checked. let me know what happens. wish I was there to help you cause I can fix anything on a Titan and I am shocked that it isn't a missin relay.

tell them to check your relays under the hood and see if you got fire in your 7 pin plug. make them verify in front of you. These trucks are better than anything out there. Nissan doesn't train the techs at the dealership good of our changes we make to them.

impossible, the lh and rh relays should be the same color and the tow relay is brown for the break controller. is your truck equiped with a vdc and other stuff or is it an XE. but trailer lights are controlled by two BLUE relays. trust me, I know the exact part numbers, I work there. If you are facing your trucks hood. from left to right, brown tow relay. directly behind it from left to right two blue relays, LH and RH. read your fuse box. plus I don't think those relay will go bad. put a tester on your 7 pin plug in rear and ground it to the ground pin or the bumper if its chrome and turn on head lights and hazard lights and see if you get fire.

oh MYTITAN, you have an '05, you only have 1 blue relay. its your trailer dawg. test your pins, but I think its your trailer. cause one relay controls both lights. you might need to rewire the left side due too a short. or ground it better. the frame might be rusted. what kind of trailer is it?
