? on new prodigy controller

Sorry if this is a stupid question but i couldn't find the answer in a search. I just installed the prodigy brake controller is the power susposed to be constant to it? It has two . . on the display all the time. I know the . . indicates that the booster is not on and the trailer is not plugged up, but is it susposed to stay on all the time? Even when the key is out of the truck and everything is off the lights stay on, this just seems wrong to me. I tried to call tech services but they are closed until monday.

thanks for any advice

Yes, it will stay on all the times based on the wiring diagram below..

I found mine will stay on for quite a bit then turn off automatically in 30-40 sec or so after the key is removed. The . . you see is disconected from trailer. you will see a "c" when connected. If you do not have the big-tow pkg w/ pre-wired trailer brakes then you might have to take it to who installed the wiring harness then. But yes it will stay on for awhile but should not stay on permanently. Mine will also turn on if I depress the brake pedal and key is off, but it turns off eventually.

Re: ? on new prodigy controller

thanks, i just walked outside and checked and it was asleep, i must not have been patient enough before. luckily i have the big tow so it was a simple plug up. haven't tried to pull a trailer yet but i'm sure it will work good. i'm currently using my titan as a pickup/delivery vehicle for my business so i'm hoping this mod will help prevent excess wear to my brakes.

thanks again

Re: ? on new prodigy controller

My lights go off on average after 40-50 secs. I just unplug it when I'm not towing anything but most of the time just ignore the dots when it is connected. Have to say, its a great brake controller.
