New toy to tow

Hey all - been reading titantalk for a while now, but just decided to join.

I'll be the proud new owner of a 1993 SeaRay 240BR and was wondering if any specific equipment is recommended such as the roadmaster active suspension or something like the Reese strait-line trunnion bar.

Most trailering will be fairly short distance - it's only a couple of miles from where I plan to store to the ramp. I will, however be towing from Mid-Missouri to Upstate New York when I pick it up.

Boat:
23'10" LOA
8'6" beam
4,000lbs dry, probably about 5,000 with gas & gear

Trailer: (estimates as I haven't decided on one)
Around 25'-26' long
1,700 lbs
Tandem axle

Truck:
06 SE with BT
K&N CAI
Banks monster exhaust

Re: New toy to tow

I think with Big tow you're ready to go...
Nice thing about boats is that the tow wind resistence is way down from a normal box shaped trailer...

Re: New toy to tow

I'd say your safe on the truck side of things. I'd be more worried about the condition of the trailer. Bring a couple of bearing kits and a grease gun along with anything to jack up the trailer if need be, spare tire and all the associated tools to change a bearing on the side of the road... Good luck on the trip and congrats on the boat!!

SB

BTW, you may want to lookup Boat US tow coverage, might be work the few bucks.
