Re: tow w/o big tow

Goodiemob,

Tow in 4, leave the tow mode button alone, since you have an '04. That's what I have and the truck is happiest with Tow Mode OFF and just in Manual mode - in 4. The torque converter doesn't lock with TM ON in the earlier trucks and it will get too hot (besides costing you in gas). My '04 has over 70,000 miles on it (20% duty towing) and it's still a great truck.

Nissan has upgraded the logic in the later trucks.

Re: tow w/o big tow

thanks for the info guys. i always drive in 4 anyway unless im on the highway my exhaust tends to drone when its in d around town. what good is the tow mode if it overheats when being used? and im really not to worried im sure my truck will haul the other truck just fine, if not its pretty pathetic.

I purchased a Carson Funrunner.

Even their shortest model(14 ft) still weighs over 3200 lbs...Where did you get 2800?

...and that's the reason they fixed it in the later-year trucks.

This was my hot button for a long time, and they showed that they do listen. These guys are smart, and got their heads around the tow mode. It works great in later years; not sure exactly where the break to the new firmware is, though.

Nissan changed the Tow Mode?....What does it do different?
Is this written somewhere?
